We are very interested in WWII history so this was always going to be of interest to us but well worth a visit for anyone. The tours are timed in groups and only certain tours are in English so it is worth going early in...More

Went to the submarine base on a bit of a cloudy day, what an amazing experience- advice is to book before you go though as it’s busy in the core summer holiday period. Visiting K3 via the tour is an absolute must, 1.5 hrs but...More

Very interesting place, excellent guide who gave a brief insight to the facility and it’s history. The place impacted the lives of the locals, the allied side and the German sailors and on shore personnel. A must for students of the world war 2

Just a great work of engineering. Well worth the trip and tour. Massive concrete and barely scratched during all the bombing.

If you are interested in WW2 and some of the amazing construction that went on then this is for you. K1 & K2 were built in haste - no time for digging pens for the u boats into the seabed - what an ingenious system...More

We were looking enough to turn up and find that there was a tour in English starting within 30 minutes (with a French-speaking tour running in parallel). The tour takes on the K1 and K3 buildings (as well as the in-finished K4 building) - culminating...More

The submarine base is worthwhile a visit. Especially in combination with the Flore submarine. We took the tour in English. Our guide provided a clear story which mixed context and details in understandable terms. Her English was very good. La Base offers separate reasonably and...More
