This unique mosque because of its building design, which is a merger between Hindu Culture and Islamic Culture. Must see place at Kudus. The Islamic heritage and one of the oldest mosque in Indonesia.

It's nice place to visit, but too close with souvenir shop so not to nice if you walk from park, it would be better if the government manage the motor / car not pass in the front of Mosque

This is one of Kudus Landmark and one of the oldest mosque in Indonesia. It was built around XV century. The architecture concept was mixed between Islam, Hindu and Budha culture. Beside the mosque, there is Sunan Kudus cemetery. Remember that you should wear very close clothes with veil before entering the mosque and cemetery.

For me, this landmark is representative of aculturization between hinduism and islamic. This is the embodiment of walisongo's power in spreading islamic through people's culture.

Whilst working in Kudus, our colleagues took us one evening to the Mosque and Menara. Despite the fact that we were with locals, as westerners, we didn't feel welcomed to enter the menara and had to be content looking at the amazing site from the street. We were the only women out in the crowded area and whilst we might... More
