Owned by a wealthy collector and faithful to its distant past, this attraction is wonderful and quietly impressive. The gardens are on a manageable scale and interesting but the house is a real WOW!

Lovely national trust property, a bit off the beaten track to get to but it was the home of an eccentric man who collected a lot of unusual things, it is not a museum but a lovely old house and basic garden, worth a visit

National Trust property and well worth a visit. You go around at your own pace so it is entirely up to you how long you take. Is this a romantic place? In my view anywhere can be romantic if you are there with the right person - and I was.

An interesting collection. There is indeed an awful lot of it, crammed into every available space, although with minimal information on the objects themselves . Presumably labelling would slow down the progress of visitors and its already pretty congested without encouraging people to linger longer! This is not a criticism, just an observation.
Despite timed tickets the rooms were rather more crowded than we were comfortable with but we saw enough to leave us wanting to know more. We looked in vain in the NT shop at the end for a book about the place and the collection but couldn’t find anything ,although there is a NT book “1000 Fancies” which I found and bought on the web later.
The gardens were really nice. Plenty of space and really peaceful. It was nice just to sit in them.
In common with many historic houses and collections the inherited wealth that created them primarily came from slavery and, specifically in the case of Snowshill, sugar plantations in the West Indies. This is openly acknowledged by the NT to their credit and they make the point that Charles Wade was a beneficiary rather than perpetrator.
All in all we enjoyed our visit and will seek to find out more about the contents and their collector.

You can view collections of Charles Wade - who profited from plantations and used this to collect vast number of heirlooms from east asia... questionable explanations of where items came from e.g. 'wade found seven samurai armour sets in a shed in Suffolk...'

Visited here whilst in the area. Fascinating place, the collective items are vast, too many to take them all in…. The house has very small full rooms, many steps, old dusty smells.. the gardens are beautiful….worth a look around.

Just so much to see, but marvel at each and every room. One almost forgets the wonderful house and garden set in lovely countryside. I will have to return , as its almost too much to take in at one viewing

We were staying near Broadway and this NT property was close by.
We didn't quite know what to expect but it was a really interesting place with a truly eclectic mix of "exhibits" showing one man's passion for a life of collecting. The room guides were very helpful and knowledgeable.

There are lots of interesting things to see here but we felt it was let down by the small grounds. We usually enjoy long walks around National trust properties but this one didn’t do it for us.
