Autumn gardens are small and lacking interest
Nov 2021
We visited as a family with friends this last weekend (Sunday 7th November). Local friends who we visited told us it was worth seeing. A family ticket for two adults and two children cost over £21. It only covered the gardens, as the Manor House had to be pre-booked and to see both house and gardens presumably costs more.
The gardens are small and most of the shrubs and flowers were in autumnal mode, past their Summer glory. As such, it was a lot o money to see very little. The Trust should have reduced prices accordingly

Great visit to a remarkable house and collection
Oct 2021 • Family
The most amazing, unique collection. The main house and adjacent building have the most remarkable collection of artefacts. Charles Wade had strict instructions as to how these were to be displayed. The NT have tried hard to stick to his philosophy and the result is impressive. We’re lucky that the collection remains intact and not split up.
The staff were universally friendly and informative.
The cafe warm and cosy on a autumnal day but serving a limited menu. It is end of season and the house closes at the end of the month I think.
The gardens are small but well loved.
Go on a dark and stormy day for full impact!

A fascinating property
Mar 2021
As National Trust members this is a lovely property to visit with free entry. It never fails to disappoint. We visited in March soon after the Covid restrictions were partially lifted so there weren’t many people about. It’s a pleasant walk down from the entrance area to the manor house and workshop where an eclectic array of curiosities are on display as gathered by one of the previous owners, Charles Wade. Nearby the main house there are several outbuildings that contain a variety of items ranging from an old fire cart to a decorative carriage. The coffee shop was open for drinks only which was a pleasant way to round off our long-awaited escape from lockdown. A fascinating place to spend some time wandering around and well worth a visit.

A coffee and a place to sit for my Dad while we visited the house
Oct 2021
We have lifetime NT membership and wanted somewhere to take my elderly Dad for a day out. Although my wife and I were able to go into the site free, we had to pay in full for my Dad even though we made it clear that he only wanted to sit down in the coffee shop. To add insult to injury when we got to the cafe due to a combination of ‘lack of staff’ and ‘no deliveries’ the cafe had very little food available and the few available hot drinks were ‘served’ in paper cups.
Overall my Dad paid around £15 to sit on a cold bench with a tired sausage roll and a paper cup of tea while we rushed round the house.
Not good enough for an organisation with the resources of the NT.

Lovely gardens
Oct 2021 • Couples
A nice enough National Trust property - personally I found the gardens more interesting than the house, but each to their own. It's a shame the shortage of volunteers means only the ground floor can be seen, but the two volunteers on duty during our visit were very knowledgeable. (A rather tastleless comment about our 'North of the Border' membership cards from the Boris Johnsonesque chap who greeted us at the entrance building - National Trust for Scotland to
everyone else!)

The café had a nice sunlit outdoor seating area, but a very limited menu - their supply chain is affected the same as our local supermarkets I suppose.

Snowshill Manor & Garden
Oct 2021
What was on display at Snowshill manor was really superb, a collection of hand crafted models and furniture in this old manor house, very well described by the NT volunteers inside the property. This was within some excellent, well tended gardens, very good indeed. However there was considerable disappointment in that the second floor was closed to visitors since the pandemic - it does say on the website it's closed so no surprise there. Also the website stated that the first floor may be closed as the NT don't have enough guides to attend the first floor, on our visit, it was indeed closed, also parts of the garden following a wet period so that the grass could recover. Charles Wade's model village workshop was also closed due to a wasps nest inside!
In addition, the café was running a very limited selection of food and drink due to "supply chain problems".
It seems a catalogue of problems is seriously limiting visitors experience of this site. A shame because a previous visit many years ago left a very warm inside feeling of a good visit, but at the moment, not so.

Fascinatingly eccentric collection of curios
Sep 2021
What a strange, interesting collection made by one of the 20th centuries greatest eccentrics and collectors! It was surprising to hear that Charles Wade acquired most of the collection in the UK, taking advantage of low prices forced by death duties levied after WW1. The room guides were brilliant and it is to the visitor’s advantage to spend some time talking to them as they are a font of knowledge! As well as the manor house museum, the adjoining cottage where Wade lived was fascinating and the gardens are very pleasant. The cafe was not too crowded and we enjoyed a snack lunch before leaving.

So much to see in the manor house
Sep 2021
We visited in September on a beautiful day, we are members and we had pre booked a tour of the house at 11.30, We arrived just before they opened at 11 and queued to get in. We had a 10 minute walk to the house the last bit all up hill, being disabled this was a little hard, but because of Covid no buggy at the moment.

When we got into the house the ground floor rooms were open as were the 1st floor rooms, with guides in each room to explain some of what you were seeing,

Glad that they have been able to re open, but because the rooms are not very big, you feel that you can't really spend much time looking around as there are people waiting to enter.

A lot of items to see our favourite were the Samurai Warriors, will hopefully return when Covid is no longer and hopefully then we will be able to spend much more time looking at all the beautiful items

A good visit
Jun 2021
Not our favourite National Trust property but still aspects of the gardens were lovely.
As we saw it the garden needed attending too. Didn't go into the manor.
