Stunning place with lovely views, rich flora and fauna and geology. The site is very well maintained and has lovely staff, always on hand to help. It took us about half an hour to reach the caves, and even in the heat it was a lovely descent with playful Italian wall lizards wandering on the main path. There are fresh water taps every 50 meters or so if you get too hot. When we reached the caves the scenery was stunning and we ended up dipping our feet in the Bussenti river's ice cold water. Careful not stepping on the fire flies crawling on the steps near the cave, you don't want to hurt them. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this place, nature is indeed amazing, and the place definitely merits its status as WWF oasis!

We arrived just as they were opening a few minutes before 10. We began the climb down, descending into a gorge and you can hear the rushing water long before you see it. A very cool split in the cliff has a path into it, with a creek rushing out from the darkness. You can’t walk too far in (the path is roped off), but you can walk down along the creek where it is cool and shaded and there are trees dripping with moss. Up another branch is an old mill and a small swimming hole. It is cool and shady and a pleasant respite from the hot summer sun. The walk up wasn’t fast but the path is dotted with water fountains that deliver the spring water to your now-empty water bottles. It was delicious. (We had an amazing lunch afterwards at the only open place in town - a castle looking place at the top of town. Delicious!)

Great family trip out. The young adventures loved exploring. Explored caves, played in the stream looking for treasure. Wildlife. Not buggy friendly and the drive there is winding and not great for large/long cars.

What a little treasure of a place. Set out on what we thought would be a walk in the national park only to find this place nestled amongst the valleys. A mere €5 each to access the site and a handy guide tells you where to go and informs you of the path to follow. A truly magnificent watermill, waterfalls and vast cave awaits below, sturdy shoes recommended as rocky and steep terrain. The was also another little surprise of a monorail although not in operation on the day we visited, obviously gives a lift down or up to those who would like to take the strain away. Go explore and find and visit this place, your entrance fee is for the WWF cause so also good to give back. Great aftn, took us in 30oc heat about 2 1/2 hours, but we stopped for lunch down by the waterfalls.

The Oasi was a bit of a letdown, since the cave was closed beyond a few metres. The nature around the river canyon is very lush and beautiful, however. The whole park/Oasi has a sort of sad has-been feel to it. There is a awesome- looking mini-funicular that was out of order, a bridge had collapsed and if you wade to the other side, there is a big display now covered with leaves and vines. Things loke that.
The village of Morigerati is very sleepy and very picturesque and worth a visit.

We visited the site while staying in Polinuro, about an hour away. Very pretty walk through woods, by river, and spectacular cave. The mill was very interesting as it still grinds wheat into flour and has been well maintained. The WWF site is right in Morigerati. The signs point out of town and we drove an extra hour on very windy roads looking for it. The sign says it will be closed if raining so do not go on a rainy day. Small fee at entrance. Hilly walk but not at all difficult.

È possibile fare un pic-nic all'interno dell'oasi?

Grazie
