It is easy to find, not far from the pedestrian zone. The Assam brothers have decorated other churches in Germany but the frescos here were amazing. We asked the attendant for an explanation and were rewarded with lots of information. Make sure you have a guide or a guide book with you. As you move up and down the aisle,... More

The interior is done by the Asam-brothers who made their own church in Munich. If you've seen the one in Munich then this one is a much more subtle version although still a fairly elaborately decorated church. Be ready to pay €3/adult to enter the church (which I will say I find maybe somewhat of a stretch).

I visited the Maria de Victoria church back in May of 2010. I was here abroad doing a transcultural nursing class, and my instructor recommended it for the brilliant painting on the ceiling. the Elegance of the church interior aside, the painting I enjoyed because it really gave one a view on to the painter, and ignorance about a world... The external architecture as the inside was under restoration. Of interest the belfry placed at an unusual angle versus the facade of the church, a feature common to other churches in the city.

Very nice Asam painter brothers church. Historical church with fantastic ceiling fresco. Don't miss it. It is closed to city centre and to the Liebfrauenmuenster.

A small church on a side street in Ingolstadt is easy to miss, but that would be a mistake. Certainly not a grand cathedral with fabulous stained glass, but once you enter this sacred space you may think you have entered heaven. The muralled walls and ceiling create a very special sacred space. We were lucky enough to hear a... More

Look up in the side-chapels, the stone arches are carved to look like lacework or bramble branches. Beautiful reredos behind the high altar. Look on both sides. Detailed paintings of saints. Very nice.

Unique experience: a huge fresco on the church's ceiling, apparently completed in only 6 weeks by the Assams, with astonishing perspective effects. Worth a trip and reccomend a guided tour in order to discover the several misteries of this masterpiece. We discovered the church with a city tour organised by the local city tourist office, superb introduction to Ingolstadt old... More

If you like looking at churches (I do) then Maria de Victoria will be of interest. The exterior is typically German Baroque, but the interior is quite different and really spectacular. You simply must take the time to go inside; the entrance fee is next to nothing.
