Really enjoyed the main house (free entry) and have to come again to see the exhibition and the warehouse. Bring some time to sit in all those chairs and sofas and enjoy the view out into the nature. You will for sure find pieces you like and can even place your order :-) or buy them in miniature in the... More

We had travelled up to Basel for the Beyeler Foundation Blau Reiter exhibition, which we found underwhelming. What to do? We had always wanted to see Vitra and it's just over the border into Germany. What a lovely surprise! Firstly there is a big free car park. Then the architecture of the whole site is magnificent, full of buildings by... More

Great museum, showroom and flagshipstore! I spent aroind 3 hours in the facilities and enjoyed all parts of the exposition! I also visited one of the cafes and was positive surprised by the food and drink offers. Worth every cent.

I have spent a whole day at Vitra campus and I have joined 2 guided tours to visit the Vitra Design Museum and the other one was around the campus including the factory buildings, the dome and the Fire Station which general visitors do not have access to. There’re some subtle but interesting design in the Fire Station that probably... More

I'll never take a chair for granted again! The guided tour gave an insight into the history of chair design with 7,000 examples to view. Now I will look for form functionality textile and art. The buildings that house them are an architectural feat of design in themselves. Spent a lovely evening dining in the deli restaurant. It's in Germany... More

We visit Vitra Museum regularly (once a month using the free entrance of the "PASS Museum". The subscription to the "PASS Museum" is worth the yearly fee requested). This time it was an exhibition on a designer (unknown to us): Alexander Girard. The exhibition was superbly presented and commented (german-english). We had also the chance to visit a new "de... If you appreciate modern furniture and design, you'll love this place. Just over the border from Basel in Weil am Rhein in Germany, it's reachable now by Tram 8, although if you have a free Hotel Mobility Pass, you have to pay extra for the bit in Germany. And make sure to take your passport with you in these troublesome... More

See below for German I specifically want to write a review of the Rehberger Weg - 24 Stops. A friend and I signed up for the guided walk on Sunday, October 2 at 2pm “Architecture with Albert Gothe” departing from Vitra (in German) Mr Gothe was very knowledgeable and it was a very enjoyable walk. And it didn't cost a... More

I've been living in Switzerland 2 years and didn't even know this design gem existed, much less that it was right across the Rhine river from Basel. But I am SO GLAD someone tipped me off! It's about a 20-minute walk from the Weil am Rhein bahnhof. There are no signs, so you walk straight out of the station area... More
