About
Wellcome to Braunfels Castle! It looks a bit like in a fairy tale, but it is real. Located on the very top of a rock it wellcomes its guests from far. Since centuries its owned by the family, which is still living there. Braunfels is a charming little place with the huge castle right in the middle of it. Braunfels Castle itself offers an attractive variety of sightseeing possibilities, which however are a bit limited in wintertime (Nov.- March). Enjoy your stay in Braunfels!

Great castle to visit, allthough I wish mire if the castle could be visited. But it was sufficient. The guide was great!

Many parking facilities (P Schloss).
The castle is well maintained and the interior is still the original one, very rich. The visitor has a good impression how was to live there. Recommended for children passionated of knights and princesses.
It is requested to use stairs to move inside the building.

All parts were very satisfactory: homepage, access, welcome, registration, materials, friendliness, competence of guide, details given on the guided tour.
Don't miss to make a break at the romantic cafe.
A guided tour is a must - otherwise you miss the interior and you don't get the full historic picture.
This is really value for money.
Spend a few Euros to buy the booklet - it gives wonderful memories.
And the staff are very open and friendly to children!

Being from New Braunfels TX it was almost a requirement for us to go while we there. We were not disappointed. Made sure we were on the English speaking tour.

The most amazing castle. One of two privately owned castles in Germany. Not to be missed! Artwork, armory, and details were superb.

Fantastic 19th century castle with classic exterior design, intriguing internal features and commanding views over the surrounding valleys. We visited around Christmas and enjoyed the family outing. The tour was principally in German but the guide was happy to share some details in English. An hour well spent. The coffee shop has a nice atmosphere and good coffee and cakes — with a broader choice of eating options in the old town just five minutes walk away.

It is not that rare that you bump into medieval castles around, but this one is quite OK. I expected a bit more from the guide, bit it was worth to check it out.

The castle is now on to its 22 generation of the same family, which is incredible and means that the castle is very well preserved and has many family treasures to see. We were lucky to have an English speaking tour - worth booking in if you can. The surrounding town is a stunning wood fried house village.

Castle is worth a visit even without an English tour.
Have lunch in the beautiful town, too.
Scenic views from all angles
