About
Wellcome to Braunfels Castle! It looks a bit like in a fairy tale, but it is real. Located on the very top of a rock it wellcomes its guests from far. Since centuries its owned by the family, which is still living there. Braunfels is a charming little place with the huge castle right in the middle of it. Braunfels Castle itself offers an attractive variety of sightseeing possibilities, which however are a bit limited in wintertime (Nov.- March). Enjoy your stay in Braunfels!

Beautiful castle. We took the English tour and the tour guide was great. Communication with the staff when scheduling an English tour was great. The staff is very kind and informative. Great customer service.

Many parking facilities (P Schloss).
The castle is well maintained and the interior is still the original one, very rich. The visitor has a good impression how was to live there. Recommended for children passionated of knights and princesses.
It is requested to use stairs to move inside the building.

All parts were very satisfactory: homepage, access, welcome, registration, materials, friendliness, competence of guide, details given on the guided tour.
Don't miss to make a break at the romantic cafe.
A guided tour is a must - otherwise you miss the interior and you don't get the full historic picture.
This is really value for money.
Spend a few Euros to buy the booklet - it gives wonderful memories.
And the staff are very open and friendly to children!

The most amazing castle. One of two privately owned castles in Germany. Not to be missed! Artwork, armory, and details were superb.

Hello, I was born and raised in New Braunfels Texas and lived there for 53 years before moving to central Texas. I have e-mailed the Schloss Braunfels castle in German to request an English tour and to order tickets for a Sunday in September. Could anyone make suggestions as to how to set this up? We will be visiting Germany in Austria in September and at the top of our list is Braunfels.
Thank you Carolyn J. W. Temple, TX, United Sates

Hello Eddie W. Thank you for your post. I was born and raised in New Braunfels TX and lived there until I was 53. My husband and I are coming to Germany & Austria in September. We will be staying at the Schloss Braunfels Hotel. We plan to tour the Schloss Braunfels castle on a Sunday. I have sent the castle an e-mail in Germany asking to purchase tickets and I have requested an English tour guide, but have not had a responnse. Is this how you went about your tour? My e-mail is cjwdecorate@yahoo. I would very much appreciate any information since this is my first tripe to Germany and Austria.
Thank you, C.J.W
