Basically a ruined castle at the top of a hill. Not much left of the castle but you can still wander around the ruins. A funicular train takes you most of the way to the top where there happens to be a restaurant and a kiosk. The views a pretty awesome though

I highly recommend walking up to the top of Drachenfels. It's a lovely walk (particularly on a sunny day), there's cafe's/bars along the way to stop off for a drink or some food, the walk itself is not too hard (you can get to the top in a comfortable 30-40 minutes) and the view is so worth it. I did... More

Come and see ! The lovely spot looks like in a fairytale, two castles, both open for a visit, and kept perfectly. You will just love it !!! And you will never forget the view ! The lovely Rhine valley just lying there !

Beautiful views and amazing Castle. Took the train up and also took the tour which goes through the history of how the castle was built. It was never conquered and with its many lines of defenses you can see why! Very cool, definitely want to visit again.

I went up here several times and every time is worth the hike. Ow, yes, do not take the expensive cable cart. Just make a nice big hike over the Ölberg and other peaks of the seven mountains. It is worth having this place half way for lunch. IT is pretty busy on nice days, but worth it. The little dragon... More

The views from Drachenfels are amazing! You can either ride the little train up= 10 euros or hike, its a short hike but very steep. There is a little beer garden up top, so you can have a cold beer when you arrive.

We walked up to Drachenfels from the parkplatz at the base of the Drachenfelsbahn. It is an easy walk up if you take your time. There is a small imbiss part way up where you can get some pommes or bratwurst. The view from the top, either the restaurant or the very top by the ruin is great. We were... More

The drachenfels can easily be reached from Bonn by either car, train or boat. We decided to take a Rhine cruise from Bonn to konigswinter which takes about 90 minutes and offers some nice views over the Rhine valley. The price for a round trip was 20 euros per person and included two tickets to the drachenfelsbahn which carries you... More

We took the train to the Drachenfels ruins and enjoyed the beautiful view and strolled the hilltop. From the hilltop, we walked down to Drachensberg.

We walked up the hill, most restaurants were closed but the foggy weather gave it all a nice mysterious look. Drachenburg was lovely, we went on to the top through the beautifull woodland. We didnt go in to the ruines as we had a baby with us but the views from the top were spectacular.

Thank Martijn W
