This is a nice castle well worth seeing. It is close to the Maria Laach monastry. It you do both on the same day it will make for a wonderful day out. Individually, we looked around each for about 1 1/2 hours so a bit short for a long day trip. The area is lovely and there are plenty of... More

When traveling to Europe its always a must for me to visit historic spots like castles and this tome it was no exception. This was the third castle for me to see in 2 weeks and it seems to be getting better! Again another majestic castle ! The rooms and furniture really takes you back in time . Unfortunately the... We deliberately targetted this castle for a visit on our most recent trip to Europe. It truly is a fairytale castle. It was a slightly dull day in September promising (as indeed it delivered) a gorgeous day when the sun burned off. Sadly you can't go indoors without doing the tour and, on the day we got there we hadn't... More

My car's navigation system found this castle a few kilometers outside of Mayen and we were pleased to find sufficient free parking within a short distance of the entrance. The walk up to the inner courtyard and the ticket counter was rather tortuous over green, slick cobbled stones but we all made it in one piece. Unbeknown to us in... More

We visited early on a late November morning. A cold ice fog blowing through the trees and onto the ramparts were truly memorable. The tour was in German but the guide explained slowly to my friend -- who speaks a bit of German. One of those places that I look to visit -- off the beaten path and very cool!

This castle is quite impressive - it's one of the few that was never destroyed, and you can tell. Only two never-destroyed castles of this kind exist, and the other one is Burg Eltz, which for some reason is a lot more famous (okay, Eltz might be a bit fancier even, but this was still amazing.) The place has been... More

We visited the castle with our 4-year-old son, who is a great castle fan and it did not disappoint him. Massive walls, high Towers and screechy old doors: paradise for a pre-schooler. The gardens were closed and could not be visited. If you have a buggy, it is very hard to get from the main entrance to the central courtyard... More

The castle itself was as I remember it! Felt great to be where Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed. However... the inside of the castle on the film was in England somewhere, so don't expect the interior to match. There was the possibility of a tour but only in German. Still! The highlight of my trip!

Visited the Schloss Burresheim castle recently while in Germany for the fist time with my daughter. they only had german tours but we were ok with that, so we went along with a small group of german tourists. The castle was well kept. We found the tour very interesting even with the language barrier. My daughter had 3 yrs German... More

We had a wonderful tour guide. There were only four of us in our group, all English speakers. The tour guide did not speak English, but he was very patient and spoke slowly. He went out of his way to make sure I understood and could translate for our group, even with my limited German. If I did not understand... More
