We took the 'yellow bus,' which is really more of a truck with seats. It dropped us off right at the facility. We were told we could walk it but the bus worked best for us. We did not eat there although a nice meal...More

We drove and parked near the castle and had just a little walk. It is the earliest hill fort layout traced in the Mosel Valley (293-306). There are informational signs around to share the history, It was so interesting to see how the stonework was...More

The castle offers a beautiful view of the town below, and a seemingly popular cafe/restaurant. We peeked in the restaurant and noticed the staff setting up for some sort of event dinner; I imagine this would be a beautiful setting for a small wedding reception...More

We took the train up to the ruins and walked down. The view was incredible. The view from the restaurant, with floor to ceiling windows was breath taking. The food looked great (we ordered beer and cappuccino). A must see.

The best view of Bernkastel-Kues is from this old castle - which is clearly the reason why the Romans built it (and mediaeval Germans improved it) in the first place. It can be difficult getting to the top on foot, as it's quite a long...More

We caught the little yellow bus up to the castle which was good value for €7 (or €6 with you visitor discount card) for the round trip. Stop for lunch or coffee in Schutzenhaus Beer garden and restaurant. Excellent menu and reasonable prices. Loved the...More

Located on the top of the valley, above the town of Bernkastel-Kues, it's either a 15-minute walk up the hill to the fortress, or you can drive and park. Inside is a bar/restaurant that looked expensive but decent. Entry to the fortress is free and...More

Yes, but you can climb up to see the view. Besides, there's nothing really exciting to see inside. They have a restaurant in the summer but the food is crappy. Well, it's nice to stop for a glass of wine after the hike up.
