This cheese place (for a better name) is right behind the train station, and also close to Morteratsch glacier so that you can do both in an afternoon. Go on Wed. right before lunch, get their cheese platter - which is delicious. On Wed. they have a large group of Americans come - and they also had Alphorns there for... More

Wanted desperately to go to the place and eat their lovely cheese, based on other reviews on tripadvisor. But mistakenly thought that Pontresina was the station behind which it was situated.Actually Morteratsch is the station where it is,NOT PONTRESINA.It is an hour away by walking/20 min. by bus from Pontresina station.

The "Heutaler" of this cheesery is certainly one of the best Swiss hard cheeses. You can also buy it at the "Sennerei" in the midst of Pontresina.

We went for lunch the other day to the Alp Schaukäserei in Morteratsch. It is always a nice place to go on a sunny day. It is a good place to go with the family, children and dogs have a good time there. We had two very generous plates of mixed cheese and hams which were excellent. Also the bread... More

The Schaukaserei is right by the railway station, and offers a wonderful brunch - this needs to be booked the day before, but is definitely worth planning for. There is a large selection of cheese and meat, as well as various different types of bread, all lovingly arranged. We saw that most people who get off the train or wait... More

The Alp-Schaukäserei Morteratsch, near the beginning of the Morterartsch glacier walk above Pontresina, is an amazing place. They actually make the Heutaler cheese here. It looks like a little cabin, with some tables and benches outside (great place to have lunch). But in that cabin, there is the greatest secret of this planet, if not the universe. There is a... After a lovely walk we took a break at the Alp-Schaukäserei, which was an interesting experience. We were treated to a sensational cheese platter.

After we had hiking to Morteratch, we walked into forest from the station and found a small pretty house. We did not know what it was but we found they sold coffee and home made cake. The train came once a hour and we killed time there eating home made cheese cake. The staff told me they made cheese there... More
