Description:

At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you...

At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you through a specially created exhibition area of landscaped gardens. This is the butterflies own lush tropical garden playground! Here you will see hundreds of rare and exotic butterflies fluttering freely around you. The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. You can also witness the various stages of the butterfly's life cycle, from butterflies laying their eggs to caterpillars hatching, growing and forming their chrysalis. Ask your guide how to handle the butterflies and caterpillars if you dare! The tour lasts around 15 minutes and you are welcome to stay as long as you like at leisure in the gardens. There is also an extensive selection of butterfly gifts and souvenirs in the shop, or drinks available in the shady cafe. Car parking and rest rooms on site free of charge.

Great experience to walk through this place. So serene and pretty - great photography! And the tour guides know their stuff. You learn a lot - it does get pretty warm in there - so very light clothing is recommended...if it's humid you will be soak and wet when you leave! Rent a scooter and head on out!

As regular visitors of SXM we often pass the farm on our way to the beach or back to the hotel. On this trip we finally stopped in. Our tour guide, Molly is an extremely knowlegable guide with a sweet tangy edge of sarcasm. Myself being an east coast fast paced businessman Molly guaranteed a worth while wait for the... More

Was a bit sceptic when we arrived at the entrance but once inside, we had a very nice personal guide. The tour and the beauty of the buttterflies give you a feel-good-feeling! Would recommend to everyone, from 9 to 99 years old.... (tip: go in the morning to see the butterflies hatch)

We visited the Butterfly Farm on a day when only one cruise ship was in which turned out to be a great decision. The garden containing all the beautiful butterflies is small, so it would have not been such a great experience if four or five tour busses were present. We received about a 15 minute educational talk about butterflies,... More

I had no idea what to expect, but my friends wanted to go so off we went. I am so glad we did. It was beautiful, educational and so relaxing. We saw so many different varieties of butterfly's that I couldn't count how many. I would recommend this to anyone. I loved it.

Booked this as a HAL cruise excursion. Mildly interesting overall; good talk by the Farm's manager about butterfly lifecycle. Not as many species as I expected; probably a better bet for small children.

The Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten was excellent. Not only were we able to see so many beautifully colored butterflies, we got to learn how to encourage butterflies to breed by planting the correct plants. It was a very educational tour. Learned that butterflies populations are dwindling and it is important that we call do what we can to increase... More
