The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven; temporarily while they heal or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own.We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and can not be released back into the wild to care for themselves.

It was very simple but very interesting. we asked a keeper about some of the stories of how the rescue animals came to be there and really enjoyed this.

It doesn't take long to walk through, but it was the nest 90 minutes of our day. The mission of the zoo is good and it's fun to be up close and have personal interactions with the animals. Tip: buy the $3 book detailing the...More

Parking is extremely difficult on weekends with all of the bear mountain ski traffic. Great small zoo... $12.00 a person. In and out in an hour. Be very careful where you park.. tow away is a great possibility. The bears and wolves are pretty awesome.

This is a great place to take kids and see lots local animals. Good for about an hour of fun. Not huge variety but a good afternoon trip. If you want to take a break from skiing then this is the place to go!

The zoo is small but engaging. It is great that the animals have all been rehabilitated or rescued to be there. My favorite was the grizzly bears. Summer, a zoo worker, was so informative. She happened to be near the bears while we were there...More

Small but well worth your support. Beautiful animals saved because of the hard work of this facility. Stop by, you won't be disappointed.

So many cool animals to see. What a great attraction for big bear. We loved the mountain environment and all of the mountain animals.

One hour is sufficient to see all the animals. It might take longer if the zoo has many visitors and if more time is spent on each animal.

not sure of the exact amount. They have the info on their website. They are not cheap. I think around $10 or so.
