The closest place to paradise I've been. Spectacular jungle, seas and wildlife and minimal tourism. Stay in tents on the beach, go snorkelling every day and see more than in any tropical aquarium. Easy to get to via Tom & Am or Sabina Tours in...More

This is the tropical island you've been dreaming of. Awesome! Great snorkeling, too. Of course there is a big campsite or two, and lots of tourist boats, but it's still not crowded. And the snorkeling is great.

This pricey 1 1/2 hour boat trip, at the cost of $175 Aus dollars, which included transport to and back from our Khao Lak hotel, a bit of reproduction breakfast is really a very well organised cattle truck trip. It's a well oiled machine to...More

Surin Islands are more remote than the well-known Similan Islands, so tourist volumes are lower and there's a very natural feel. The National Park has a restaurant and tents for camping on the beach - such a beautiful view when you wake up. There are...More

You can take whatever luggage you have on the speedboat, two guys took kayaks out strapped to the roof when I went. Obviously big suitcases in a tent on the sand isn't particularly appropriate - camping style luggage is... More

Surin Islands are quieter than Similan Islands. No rats in the campsites at Surin. Don't know about the campsites at Similans.
