Only the Gatehouse area now exists but it is still worth spending a few minutes visiting. There is a lot of interesting information about the lives of the towns people at a critical time in their history

£8.95 for adults. I thought we'd be there for half hour. Spent nearly 4 hours there (get in early before the tourists)! Wear good shoes if climbing the towers. Plenty of things to see, kids might get bored as no computers. Toilets fine and usual...More

Sadly not a lot is left as it appears County Hall was built in it in the 1930s !!! Good view over the river tho which shows its strategic position.

Enjoyable wander around the walls. Plenty of local historical information on boards etc. Worth a read.

There is not a great deal left to see here, but there is no entrance charge and the interpretation boards are appealing to children, although the audio explanation machines were out of order. Don't go out of your way to visit.

Great place for around 30-45 mins park in town and walk down or park next to it There very little left but it's worth a visit if you like your castles It's free and has a tic inside
