Overview
More
Coughton Court has been home to the Throckmorton family for 600 years, this finest of Tudor houses stands testament to a family's courage in maintaining their beliefs. From a position of high favour to one of fear and oppression post-Reformation, the Throckmortons were leaders in a dangerous age, helping to bring about Catholic emancipation in the 19th century. Explore this story of fascinating personalities through the 'family album' of portraits and Catholic treasures around the house. Coughton is still very much a family home with an intimate feel: the Throckmorton family live here, managing the stunning gardens which they have created.

We visited Coughton Court on the day after a programme on television about the gunpowder plot so everyone was talking about the programme and the persecution of Catholics. The programme had obviously caused some problems as there were some historical inaccuracies which were making difficulties...More

The walled garden is just part of the National Trust estate but it is the main attraction and not to be missed. As wall gardens go it is perhaps one of the smaller ones but no less excellent and as the entrance is positioned centrally...More

First time visiting and will definitely go back. Staff friendly and informative. Lovely place, lovely atmosphere. Staff explained things to my children in a manner that was interesting and they would understand and they loved it.

Very disappointing, due to high winds they had closed all the gardens and the tower. I would not have minded had they reduced ticket prices taking this into consideration. The cafe could do with being larger to accommodate the amount of people

Entry to the house is subject to a time ticket, but it's well worth the wait. Photography is welcomed and the two stand out rooms for me was the music room and the climb to the tower, (via the Tower room), with its views over...More

An historic place with an exciting story to tell with plots, intrigues and priest-holes - great for all ages and nationalities! In addition, lovely gardens and, even more important - the usual high standard of National Trust catering!! Wish we'd had more time here.

NT houses are always wonderful for solo travellers and this house and garden is stunning. The car park is rather rough and ready so beware if you have limited mobility. Potholes and grass abound. The gardens are stunning, lots to explore with woods, a river,...More
