This is a fabulous ride for any cyclist. With no traffic and and no gradient, it is suitable for novice to experienced rider. Not for a normal road bike as some sections have mud on them. We ventured to 'The Anglers Rest' pub, which I'd recommend as a welcoming place to have some refreshments. Views are stunning and it's quite... More

Nice gentle ride into the Derbyshire hills. The scenery is fantastic with the added bonus of a little bit of industrial history. We started in Bakewell to get the benefit of the downhill ride back to where we started.

An easy cycle route through lovely scenery. Starting point: hassop station where we hired hybrid bikes to complete the trail. Lots of interesting tunnels on route. Highlight for me was the Monsal head viaduct. We started the trail at 10am and were one of only a handful of cars in the pay and display carpark. Saw virtually no one walking... More

We visited last weekend during some light snow - the trail was perfect for the weather conditions with various options to suite different abilities.

This is a wonderful 8 or 3 mile trail for walking or biking towards Buxton or Bakewell. Go either way depending on your time available but the better views are towards Buxton. Unfortunately to can’t quite get to Buxton yet on the trail so you would have to find a route for the last few miles but this doesn’t spoil... More

Its a good walk on flat surfaces with the added interest of railway tunnels, viaducts, and old stations and lime kilns. Park in Ashford in The water (free) and take the TP bus from outside the Church towards Buxton. Ask to be put out at Blackwell, walk down Chee dale and onto the trail by the bike hire place. At... This area is second to none with spectacular views irrespective of the weather, not to be missed. On every turn there is something to see, and something to listen to, forget the weather at the time, this area quite simply excels in any weather.

We walked from Bakewell to monsall head. The view at monsall head is stunning, however the paths approaching the head and back through monsall Dale are horrendous and a quagmire. We spent good money to holiday in this area but the state of the paths would seriously put us off returning which is a shame. Time some of the money... More

We were staying in Bakewell so caught the TransPeak bus from the centre of Bakewell to Blackwell Turn, across from where the bus drops you is the Pennine Bridal Way, follow this to the start of the Monsal Trail, it was snowing when we did it which actually just added to the beauty of it. Its a great walk around... More

We came here on a cold snowy/rainy day and had a very nice walk. We started in Bakewell and walk to the Headstone tunnel before turning around. It took abou 3.5 hours. Next time we will do the whole trail. The trail is good for cycling, walking, baby strollers etc. Seems the nicest scenery started after the Headstone tunnel.
