We buy a season ticket each year to watch these beautiful gardens come to life through the season. The gardens are on a slope so not all areas are accessible to everyone, but even our parents, (80+) can get to parts to enjoy the colours.

If you like Rhododendrons then you should visit Lea Gardens, because here you can see every conceivable shape, size and colour of Rhododendron. But choose the date of your visit to coincide with the flowering season. The gardens open on 01 March, and if you wish to wander around the various footpaths, and look, sniff, and marvel at the varieties,... More

Such a beautiful place. The rhododendrons and other flowers I don't know the names of are amazing! There is a riot of colour in March/ April through to July/ August, depending on when our Spring falls. Another advantage of this place is the wonderful tearoom. The cakes are delicious, I find it hard to beat their chocolate cake, milk chocolate,... More

We visited Lea Gardens in May when it was the perfect time for the rhododendrons to be flowering and they are beautiful. It's a lovely place to go for a walk round and the cafe is very good too.

Called at Lea gardens they are absolutely beautiful. The cafe as gorgeous home made cakes and room to sit inside or out in the yard facing the Gardens.

I can't speak for the gardens, but the coffee shop is a winner. Great cakes, good coffee and blooming gardens all around, off the beaten track but worth a slight detour.

My mum and I have been visiting Lea Gardens now for years. All the staff are friendly and very attentive. The cake selection is always fully stocked and the scones are amazing. It's such a peaceful place and definitely worth a visit.

The splendid flowers are pretty much over now but the cafe is always worth a visit. Boo and her team keep the standard high and brighten the day with their welcoming smiles. All the food is fresh and tasty, and the cakes...just looking at them adds calories!

Going in July when the weather was a bit overcast, the price had for some reason been lowered from £5 an adult ticket to £2.50. This should have set alarm bells ringing. The garden was very small, much smaller than I thought it would be, and literally ALL the flowers were dead. No colour to be seen except green trees,... More

I missed going last year, but managed to visit at the height of the flowering season in May this year. Here is a story that unfolds, bloom by bloom every Spring. Set on a sheltered hillside near Matlock, Derbyshire, winding pathways take you through the eye watering displays. Voluminous rhododendrons infuse the surrounding backdrop of woodland with the colours of... More
