The abbey is closed in winter so we could not go inside and see all of the site but you get a good view even from the road outside. It's worth stopping if you are driving past.

Can't believe this closes for the winter months. I would expect it to be open at weekends at least all year round. Not exactly inviting tourists all year to the town of Boyle.

While driving through Boyle, we stopped to see Boyle Abbey. It is a ruim, but many parts of the walls are still standing. You could almost hear the chant coming out of the walls.

Well restorated and organized place, with a basic history review of the place on plaques and some papers that should be returned to the reception after a self guided tour.

this 800 year old Cistercian abbey is an easy self guided attraction. The staff was very helpful and the site was easy to navigate. A nice stop.
