Malahide Castle offers something for everyone, the walk around the perimeter (or most of) is pleasant at all times of year as the trees are great shelter from rain, wind etc. The playground is large & caters for all ages, although I often find it hard to keep track of my kids here if they go off in different directions.... We used bus 42 to reach the castle - finding the starting point was the biggest challenge of the day, but by asking we found an active stop. It took about 40 minutes to reach the gates of the castle and another 20 to reach the castle ticketing. Visits happen every hour, and they might become too crowded at some... More

The castle is tiny, the gardens are far from being spetacular, actually they are rather poor and shy, overpriced for the content, the tour had way to many people, to much pressure on the attraction, the guide was good thought and that must be welcomed nevertheless knowing what I know now I wouldnt spend my money here, there are way... A short drive from Dublin, this castle has the history and arcitecture you would expect. The house is fully furnished. Great tour guide informative on the family history, The grounds are beautiful and the welcome center has a few nice shops as well as take-away food, reasonable priced and very good.Close to the sea side and small village of Howith.... I had a layover of 6,5 hours in Dublin, so after reading a lot of reviews I decided to visit the castle. For those interested in visiting the castle, you can leave your luggage at the left luggage facility in terminal 1 of Dublin airport. I took a cab to the castle, I arrived there within 15-20 minutes and the... More

Really nice place to visit and see, 1 hour tour could be a bit long for very young children, as my 2 kids aged 8 and 11 struggled a little with it after 15 minutes. Superb play[ark for children nearby and we took the train back into the village which was fun.

Holy cow! My wife and I were blown away by how great this place way! Amazing gardens, beautiful lawns, and hands down the most gorgeous castle! The only way to go inside is by tour and it is absolutely worth the 12 Euro! Such a great attraction!

We got the train from Dublin, which an easy 25 mins journey. The castle and grounds and beautiful. We were there close to Christmas and had tickets to see Santa, which was really fun. There were some characters dressed up, which the kids loved. The playground is amazing - zip lines were a bit hit.

A small but lovely castle with an interesting history brought to life thanks to a very lovely guide Maria who just knew how to present it combining facts and good jokes. Gardens are so beautiful and this is a perfect place to take a long stroll on a nice sunny day.

Maria, our guide, enchanted us with her rich knowledge of the Castle. I didn't miss a word while she ingeniously depicted the historical remains, whether they were paintings, sculptures, furniture or simply cultural facts. She took great care of my daughter who can't climb stairs. Maria made our stay at the Castle a very pleasant and relaxing experience that we... More
