Very disappointed took my patents and daughter down today for a visit. To find it has new owners and the gardens are closed. Please update your website.

Gorgeous, even in winter

Came here for a new years day walk and its so lovely, well worth the entrance charge. There is such a friendly ginger cat living in the house who followed us around and acted as a little tour guide! Beautiful gardens.

Wow

I've passed Lisselan Gardens so many times and planned to stop and eventually did. The entrance is a little confusing. Parking for the gardens is shared with golf club and you pay to enter at the golf club. It's €6 per adult. Be sure to get a map of the garden.

We had a beautiful warm sunny day and we were bowled over by how beautiful it is here. Terrain wise it's a little steep but they have added ramps and paths so you can avoid steps if you need to. I wouldn't exactly say it was wheelchair friendly but it's close, and many parts are suitable with prams.

The gardens are stunning. The planting is just beautiful with a mix of formal gardens, ponds and statuary and then woodland trails and walks by the river. The walled garden is off to the side and you can cross the river from there using quaint wooden bridges and walk back towards the house through the woodland on the other side.

You can get very close to the house and everywhere is just a beautiful picture. It really would be a lovely place for a picnic.

We were amazed to have the whole garden to ourselves!

Best appreciated in the summer. A real hidden treasure. Go while you can. The estate is currently for sale. Who knows what will happen under new ownership.

Worth a visit

I have rated these gardens as average but it does seem to be work in progress , we spent a good relaxing hour walking around the many trails exploring each area with interest to see what it held.

Potential but not worth the admission price

Firstly the good ,the gardens are ok and really that is it ok, lots of work to be done here, there is a walled in garden past the house which was closed the garden here again was ok , a tea room would have been a natural option here surely. Quite a few paths are closed off either for renovation or are just for the golfers , 1 hour will easily see you returned to your car.Now the bad €6 per person entry fee is simply a ridiculous cost , perhaps the owners should take note of this the cost of a car with 5 people into FOTA gardens is only €3 and there is so much more to see ,let's not go back to been rip off Ireland.!!!

Even great when raining

It's a golf course, but it's also one of the nicest gardens we ever visited. There is a lot of renovation to do, but you don't need the buildings, you want to see the gardens. Victorian walled garden with a well-known fuchsia garden, a japanese garden, a rocketry, an orchard, and ... and ... and.

Winter Morning Wonder
Sep 2015 • Friends
On a crispy cold Autumn morning my friend and I paid a visit to Lisselan Gardens. The garden was definitely getting ready to settle in for the winter, but the reminiscence of summer still lingering. We had the company of a most gracious and friendly Ginger cat, it was a if he was offering us a guided tour, with a few meaow's and purrs added in for good measure. As we were admiring the little canal and the steam rising from the water, we had the added bonus of meeting the gardener Kieran, who with his in-depth knowledge of plants and the history of the estate may or stroll all the more pleasureable. I highly recommend Liselan, beautiful place.

Lovely but need a lot of investment (and not in the golf club)

Really interesting gardens, I know they suffered rather over the last winter but the potential is amazing. It is a pity the terrace is closed off, but it looks like it may be in need of major restoration. The water gardens are lovely but again are in need of a bit of restoration. A tea room would be great!

Lovely gardens
Sep 2015 • Friends
The gardens were lovely unfortunately they had a flood so some of the paths were impassable. Disappointed with the vintage car section.
