Scenic spot to take pictures, plus learn a lot of history. There's a building on the property that's been restored with exhibits about the history of the fort and the area, and information about the battles. Be sure to join the staff talk; the guides...More

The fort dominates Kinsale and offers a wonderful walk from the town. Its shape is very peculiar and it's quite nice to wlak around it, on the edge of the sea

Nice fort with a great view. We liked it. You can easily walk around and enjoy this fort, which is in surprisingly good shape. From here you can also start the nice "Scilly walk" to Kinsale Downtown (30-40 minutes one way).

Place is huge and really nice to walk around. Not a huge amount of info at each building to explain what is what but still all in good condition considering how old they are!

A brisk, 25-minute walk from Kinsale, but be warned, uphill and no footpaths so not exactly pedestrian friendly or suitable for buggies or wheelchairs. Some very picturesque views en route. The fort itself is breathtaking and makes this walk worthwhile. Inexpensive entrance fee, guided tours...More

We walked out to Charles Fort when we arrived in Kinsale and arrived 40 minutes before closing and they would not let us in! Very disappointed, as it was highly rated. The walk to the fort is very nice - but Google Maps underestimates the...More
