Chocolate

Superb handmade chocolates and a coffee on the side.
With Covid restrictions and such a small interior, you might have to wait, but it’s well worth being patient.

Bad customer service
Aug 2020 • Family
My kids and I were excited to find this place on a holiday in Kinsale but I was very disappointed with the customer service. I picked up a couple of bags of chocolate to look at the price underneath and the girl behind the counter very passive aggressively said ‘would you mind not picking up everything (I looked at three things) as we’re trying to do our best here, ya know’. I know we’re dealing with a difficult situation but if this shop doesn’t want things picked up they shouldn’t put people in a position where they need to pick things up. If the products were priced clearly and not on the bottom of the chocolate you wouldn’t have to touch them. There’s a nice way to convey this information and the girl definitely chose a rude and aggressive way. I was tempted to walk straight out but the kids were excited to try something so I still bought a packet of chocolate. They liked the chocolate so giving two stars instead of one.

Koko - our home away from home
Mar 2020
Koko is where we go each and every time we are in Kinsale village. Best coffee, amazing hot chocolate and always a bit of fun and a laugh with Frank and his lovely crew. And the chocolate is to die for. Keep an eye for the collection of exotic banknotes :)
A must when in Kinsale!

Artist with chocolates
Oct 2019
Koi’s was the dessert stop o our Food Tour of Kinsale with Suzanne and boy, not a disappointment. The chocolate’s uniqueness (exquisite tastes) coupled with Frank’s knowledge and passion was literally poetry in motion. He delighted in sharing this passion with us providing insight in just how he got his salted caramels to taste so divinely different from any other I’d tasted. Unusual pairings made my mouth smile. Best part: he ships to the US

Chocolate Heaven
Oct 2019
We stopped here as part of the Kinsale Food Tours so we got a bit more information about the chocolate than the casual customer might. We were so impressed that Frank adds nothing to his chocolate, except wonderful and unique flavorings-- like ginger and seaweed. I don't even like truffles and I loved the ones I sampled. This is a great family run business.

Coffee, hot cocoa & chocolate!
Sep 2019
We stopped in this establishment while doing a walking tour of Kinsale. IT was cold, and coffee and hot chocolate sounded good; both were made one at a time by the owner, which gave us ample time to talk - about Kinsale and about the owner's thoughts on other planned trip stops. We encountered the colorful language that we'd heard about, but it seemed entirely natural here. Our drinks were GREAT, and the chocolates, although we didn't buy any, looked yummie as well.

Superb chocolate
Aug 2019
We were so delighted with the chocolate here that we went back a few times. It isn't cheap but it is good value for what you get. They had individual chocolates and these were some slightly different flavours. The honey and ginger was a favourite of mine and my daughter enjoyed the giant pina colada chocolate.

Amazing chocolates
Jul 2019 • Couples
We visited Koko as part of a food tour of Kinsale and enjoyed meeting the owner and his daughter and learning about his fantastic chocolate recipes using local ingredients. Each bite was better than the last. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this adorable little shop and took tasty treats with us to last throughout our vacation. When in Kinsale, make sure to stop by.

Last minute pop in and the service was outstanding as well as the treats! I have never had fresh Carmel Chocolates that tasted so amazing. Great to hear the story of the clerks grandfathers Barbour riding coat! Highly recommend!
