I have been walking the grounds for 30 years, and in all those years, the park has always been lovely and the house has always been closed. The house has great potential, it has been restored to some extent, many years ago, but it still isn't open to the public. Such a shame! nonetheless I keep going there because it's... More

Had lunch with my family here, on numerous occasions, absolutely perfect place to sit and relax after a walk around Doneraile Park. WHolesome food served by wholesome people.

Peaceful, tranquil wildlife park with a magnificent house as its central feature. Extensive grounds to walk around, where you see deer, birds, cattle, fish for photo opportunities without being overwhelmed with tourists and you can finish off your visit in the busy tea shop located in the old kitchen area of Doneraile Court. Sadly you can't access the main house just yet;but I understand there... More

Doneraile Court house is unfortunately closed to the public but it does have a lovely little cafe open at the rear which does great coffee and cakes. The house is situated in the wider Doneraile Park which is beautiful and has great facilities for families including walks, picnic areas, a huge playground and toilets. Would love to see this amazing... More

We were on holidays near Charleville and we went to this beautiful place a few times with the kids. Amazing walks and a great playground. The house is not open and could do with some funding. Only thing stopping this experience from getting 5 stars is the cafe - not great!

Shame on OPW and the Irish state for allowing this beautiful old house to moulder away on their watch. It was restored by the Irish Georgian Society in the 80s, since when it has stood shuttered up and inaccessible to the public. The Irish Government needs to sort this scandal out and open up what should be one of the... More

Yes - that's right. Boarded up for 20 years. Not sure when it will open either. Nice cafe though, and its the only one in Doneraile, so that is lucky. The people of this town deserve better than what they are getting from the tourist board and industry.
