We went for a stroll on a drizzly day. Very few there due to the weather. Loved the old forest and the grounds were really lovely. Very peaceful. The deer are curious and beautiful. Lovely spot for a stroll.

I have been walking the grounds for 30 years, and in all those years, the park has always been lovely and the house has always been closed. The house has great potential, it has been restored to some extent, many years ago, but it still...More

Had lunch with my family here, on numerous occasions, absolutely perfect place to sit and relax after a walk around Doneraile Park. WHolesome food served by wholesome people.

Shame on OPW and the Irish state for allowing this beautiful old house to moulder away on their watch. It was restored by the Irish Georgian Society in the 80s, since when it has stood shuttered up and inaccessible to the public. The Irish Government...More

Yes - that's right. Boarded up for 20 years. Not sure when it will open either. Nice cafe though, and its the only one in Doneraile, so that is lucky. The people of this town deserve better than what they are getting from the tourist...More

Hi, I am hoping to come to Doneraile Court with my family next summer. It will be thirty years since I was last there, as a gap year student. I came over and spent two weeks with the then manager of the property - Arthur - if memory serves. There were supposed to be other young people from other countries, but no-one else turned up, so it was just the two of us! Well, we had a blast. I restored some internal bells and did some window painting, as well as some grass cutting. We then we climbed into Arthur's tiny mini and careered around Cork. He took me to a great bar in the village where there were musicians jamming together in a corner. I also learnt how to make a proper Irish coffee! My question to the current manager of Doneraile would be - would there be any possibility of seeing the inside of the house on our visit? It sounds a bit cheeky, but I have such fond memories of my ever so short visit. I have some photos of my time there which I could bring along. Also, it is amazing that I am here at all to re-visit your beautiful country - the mini had no brakes!
