First time on Cape Clear and I had heard great things about it. It is quiet and peaceful and walking routes are well marked. It is not an island suitable for anyone with mobility problems as there are a number of steep inclines on the routes. The views are lovely as you're walking and off peak you are unlikely to... More

Cape Clear Island gives you a glimpse into unique island life - today and yesterday. Winter offers peaceful strolls on rolling Irish country roads. But bring your warm raincoat, and also check out the Heritage Museum.

Took the ferry over on a wet and bouncy day and wasn't sure if I was going to regret it! Fortunately the sun came out and it turned into a pleasant day. Not exactly much to do this time of year - by the time we had the guided tour and walked one of the signposted routes (which got very... More

As a solo traveller to Baltimore, I booked a place on a group trip to Cape Clear, for an event in the Taste of West Cork festival, and what a great decision that was! Weather was kind. Met a great bunch of people. Loved the ferry trip. Coffee on the pier at Sean Rua's when we landed. Fab historical guided... More

The Island is a boat accessible only. You will be sailing approximately 20 minutes. The views from the Island are very nice. The natural walks paths are easily accessible. This is suitable for all who are able to walk. It would be difficult for the wheelchair users as you need to sail in a quite small vessel. There is a... More

On an impromptu basis, on September 18, we decided to drive to Baltimore from Clonakilty to do the Fastnet Boat Tour. We checked the fastnettour.com website that showed September 18 as green, meaning that the tour was a go. So we drove the hour down to Baltimore, arriving an hour plus early, as specified by the website. We found the... More

It felt like an adventure to get the ferry to the most southern island in Ireland. Very good food at the quayside restaurant and Cotters Bar not bad either. Fabulous views and seals in the bays.

We had a beautiful day on the island. We took the 10:30 ferry from Baltimore, saw a whale on the way, and took a gorgeous hike on the island (marked in red). 'Had a nice lunch and returned on the 4:00 ferry.

This was a relaxing island that felt like the true Ireland. The fishing was great, very mountainous, food was fantastic, the ferry is even a fantastic ride. Mara farm is a don't miss too!
