A one acre, award winning plantsman's garden situated in the beautiful Caher Valley in the heart of the Burren. The garden was begun in 1999 and has been specifically designed to 'blend' into, and incorporate it's surrounding landscape. Many 'native' plants are used, along with an extensive collection of garden plants. There are several noteable collections including Brunnera, Galanthus, Ferns, Hostas, Primula,Arisaema, and crocosmia. The garden includes a section of the Caher river, ponds and water features. There are interesting design elements, and a wealth of creative stonework including a 'Moon Window' built from local stone. It has been featured in many magazines, newspapers and is included in the book "The top 100 Gardens of Ireland" The garden is open from March to November, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please ring for details. All visits are by guided tour. Photography is allowed. Unfortunately the garden is NOT suitable for children under 16 years.

Just spent a glorious two hour guided tour around this hidden gem in the Burren area near Fanore. Carl gave an enthralling history of how his garden has been created (and still evolving!). Much back breaking work moving stones, bringing in soil (tons of it) and what a result! I would recommend garden enthusiasts to come here. No literature from... More

Caher Bridge Garden is one of the most delightful gardens I have ever visited. (And I've seen many ......US, UK, Germany, Netherlands etc). Starting with a sizable piece of property without any topsoil, owner Carl W. has turned this into a masterpiece of botanical wonders combined with expert appealing design. He has used a great variety of plant types to... More

Whether it is the genetics of snowdrops or photography or how to attract bats or how to keep out feral goats, Carl is a font of knowledge. The garden is real oasis and you just have to look at the wild hazel brush in neighbouring plots to appreciate what effort has gone in to creating his beautiful garden

We found the garden by chance when we were walking the Caher Valley loop and went back the next day to join Carl,s tour of the garden. What a wonderful experience an explosion of colour and exciting mixture of native and cultivated plants. Carl works tirelessly to maintain and expand this wonderful garden. If you are ever in County Clare... More

Surrounded and underlaid by limestone burren landscape and bound on one side by the pristine Caher river, Carl has forged an amazing relationship with the land in this beautiful garden. Its a sensual journey through the space, with visual, auditory, olfactory messages being the dominant communication. The beautiful garden has evolved in this wonderful space. Its an experience and a... More

This is such a beautifully done garden that anyone will enjoy seeing it but, someone who loves gardening will really appreciate the amount of heart and soul and labor that has gone into creating this piece of art. It is one of kind.... And so is Carl!

As we have been before and had the tour around the garden, Carl felt that we did not need to have the tour again, so we had a quick chat with him and just wandered around revelling in the beauty of the plants and of the setting and the total peace of the garden. It took quite a while as... More

This beautiful private garden in the middle of the sparse expanse known as the Burren is a must see whether or not you garden regularly. The owner, Carl, has defied the laws of nature by creating a few acres of unlikely tranquility around his home in a remote area of County Clare. Our small group of four was there for... More
