The slightly drab municipal feel to the front of the building (unlike the attractive rear) belies what lies within - a fascinating and reasonably compact interior with very engaging room guides which can be comfortably toured within an hour or so. Fortunate to be able...More

First visit and really enjoyed it. House and garden were both interesting and are well worth visiting. Coffee and lunch at the restaurant were ok even if the service was a little slow.

On our way home from holiday we stopped at this house for a second visit as in February only the foyer was open. On arrival we were able to park quite easily, they have a one way system in the car park which is good...More

We loved our visit to Hinton Ampner in late September. The gardens were beautiful! We especially enjoyed seeing the dahlias blooming and still some roses! There are wonderful trees too. Beautiful views to the countryside from everywhere. There were lots of locals many with dogs...More

Not bad but price steep compared to other gardens we have visited. Food dreadful for the prices asked. Don't bother with cafe unless its just for a bit of cake.

A lovely stately home with a warm and homely atmosphere. Good ample parking adjacent to the pedestrian entrance. Friendly and welcoming staff amply dispersed around the house to help with information. Lovely house that is full of interesting furniture and paintings. A great insight to...More

The gardens are well looked after and very attractive, there are some lovely views over the countryside. We particularly enjoyed seeing the walled garden where they grow much of the fruit and vegetables used in the cafe. The house was beautifully refurnished in the 1960...More

Even though we went at the end of September, the garden was still full of various flowers, loads of dahlias, but also scented roses, salvia and others. Lots of different garden styles; superb views over the surrounding countryside. The house itself, from the outside, is...More

You can certainly do most of the walk, which is outside the NT-controlled garden. For anything inside you would need to respect opening times and fees, but I don't think it would affect your walk significantly.
