Visited with our dog early one morning, had a wonderful walk down passed the locks along the tow path passing barges moored up. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed all the different smells from visiting somewhere new. On our way back up to the car park we stopped at the cafe and had lovely bacon rolls with coffee sat outside enjoying the... More

This used to be a little pub in the middle of nowhere about 30 years ago only busy in summertime from the canal. Busy all year now. Food quite pricy but generally a good standard. Would recommend

Foxton Locks offers picturesque views and if the narrow boats are using the locks an experience of how clever our forefathers were. To start there is good pay & display parking at either the top or bottom of the locks. There are 10 locks in line with a small museum adjacent to the obsoiete lifting plane. A couple of statues and... We have visited Foxton Locks in Sunshine, frost and now rain and we have enjoyed each visit, visiting the museum on this occasion which is also worth a visit. There are some lovely walks along the canal side which ever direction you go, It was a long way to come from Suffolk for a walk but coupled with a stay... More

The locks are well worth a visit. You can either park in the short stay car park near the bottom lock, near to the pub, or as an alternative use the long stay at the top of the hill and have a short walk to the top lock. It is interesting to watch a narrow boat go through the locks... More

Great trip through the locks on a short winter tour, thoroughly recommend the experience. Plenty of volunteers around doing odd jobs to keep the place looking good albeit only one lock keeper who saw us through all the locks. Great place for a trip either to watch the boats, travel or simply to enjoy the countryside. The volunteers / Canal... More

Good interesting place with a fascinating history. Recommended for all the family and even in November still plenty to see whether it is boats or industrial archaeology.

I came here first as a child and and have not stopped coming since... The lock keepers get everyone involved so it is a really interactive day. At the top lock, there is an ice cream shop that does the most amazing rum and raisin ice cream - WOW! Can't wait to visit again soon...

The Grade II listed locks of the Grand Union Canal are over 200 years old. 19th century canal engineers solved the problem of getting boats up and down a steep hill. A flight of ten locks are the longest set of staircase locks in Britain. Great place for a canal trip and picnic.
