There is a very large car park so no problems there, and there is a cafe with outdoor seating area and toilets before you go in, so as we arrived a bit before our friends we could enjoy a coffee while we were waiting. We caught it after the daffodils had gone over and before the roses and other summer plants had come out, so March or June are probably better than late April for a visit. The only downside (why I gave 4 stars rather than 5) was a chap with a very noisy strimmer trimming the lawns almost the whole time we were there which did spoil our visit somewhat. They are open daily so they can't do it on a closed day, so maybe we were just unlucky. Pity they couldn't do it before 10 or after 5 though!

A Lovely Winters Day Outlook. I look forward to going again when it reopens. The kids also had a great time at their Halloween event

The place is nice. We were really unlucky as the weather was terrible and there was too much mud. The receptionist was not very nice. The Halloween event was underwhelming. Our little one enjoyed the playground, even though most of it was not accessible because of the mud.Not sure if we will be back. I think this place is nice in the summer but to avoid in Autumn/Winter.

First visit today with my 3 year old. Absolutely beautiful place, the gardens are really gorgeous and very well cared for, the lily pad pond was so lovely and there were lots of surprises round every corner. Main house is closed due to covid -19 but you can see the Great Hall which is magnificent and the real fire in the centre is a lovely touch. The adventure play area is huge and there is lots for all ages. My son absolutely loved it. I liked how spaced out it was with lots of places to sit too . We were only here for a couple of hours and there is definitely more to see, the parkland walks look worth an explore. Will definitely come back.

I only discovered Penshurst Place a few weeks ago whilst looking for local things to do in light of COVID. Found this gem and booked our tickets online quickly. You can either get morning tickets or afternoon tickets, we chose afternoon as we had dinner booked nearby. Not sure if it was COVID or the unpredictable weather but we had the grounds almost to ourselves. This allowed for amazing photos with nobody in them. If I read correctly, with only two staff currently working to maintain the grounds, they were in impeccable condition. We have already decided to visit again next spring/summer to see what the gardens offer then. Baron’s hall was magnificent, the lady in there was so informative and friendly. It was nice to hear the property is still privately owned and lived in. We got to the porcupine cafe late and technically the kitchen had closed for food but the lady offered to ask the chef if he could prepare a sandwich, which he agreed to. Really appreciated they went to the effort and it added to the general charm of the property. Lots of COVID precautions in place, even hand sanitiser in the middle of the gardens! We will definitely be back!
