Excellent option for a short day trip outside Santo Domingo
Mar 2018 • Family
Located in Bani, Centro Cultural Perello is approximately one hour from Santo Domingo. If you combine it with a short visit to Baní and a stop at Dulcería María to buy dulce de leche, it can be an excellent 1/2 day trip.

We visited the Centro Perelló on Tuesday during Semana Santa, the last day the center would be open. Although we were the only ones there at one point, they treated us with incredible hospitality, giving us a tour of the center including their auditorium and a computer lab used by the local community. We enjoyed an art exhibit of paintings created by artists from the southern region of the country and one of pictures of space and the Dominican sky taken by local astronomers. The installations are gorgeous.

It is clear that the objective of the center is to give back to the community. We greatly applaud this initiative by the Perelló Family.

Christmas Concert
Dec 2017 • Couples
Centro Cultural Perello is a great place to visit. Their focus is to give back to people. Every year for the past six they have a free Christmas concern with great national artists and with the National Philarmonic Orchestra that is worth the visit (This is my second year). They even provide free transportation from Santo Domingo to the center if you go to the concert (located in Bani at about 40 minutes from the capital). A modern and clean facility with an art show that changes is a refreshing place to visit.

Wonderful venue where you would least expect it with great art installations
Jan 2016 • Solo
You would never expect it but right off the main road in Baní is an exceptional cultural center with a little bit for everyone. For tourists there are two separate large exhibition rooms with probably the best collections of local art that you will ever find. The galleries are very well laid out with special care taken in choosing exceptional pieces. There are other exhibits up throughout the grounds that change on a regular basis that are also worth a look. For the local people there is a free media lab with 32 computers that are free to use for everyone that locals use to do their home work and surf the web. Additionally if you are going to be around for a while, you can take any of the free classes that the center offers ranging from English to photography. There is a cafeteria if you get hungry though the food didn't look particularly impressive. All in all you could spend an hour or two easy talking with the local Banilejos and strolling through the art galleries. And lets face it... there isn't a whole lot else to do if you find yourself in Baní.
