This beach was beautiful and surrounded by little hotels and tavernas we had a little road trip and driven to the other beaches in the North that we could get to in the jimney we hired this place was not as isolated or remote but it was the easiest to get to.

Agali beach is easily reached from Chora by bus. You need to know the bus timings. You can walk too, but it was a hot day and we did not dare. It is a smallish pebble beach. There are bars and restaurants around. Bring your beach umbrella and beach mats. The water is pleasant to swim in. It can get crowded though. We then took the 20 minute walk to Ag Nikolaos beach, stopping on the way for lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the beach from a height. This is an up and down walk, and we worked up a big thirst and a lot of sweat by the time we got to Ag Nikolaos, so a stop for Mythos beer in the beach taverna was welcome. There is a bit more shade at Ag Nikolaos and it is a bit nicer and quieter, whether you want to sit or swim. You can take a boat back to Agali if you don't want to walk back.

Having visited the beaches in Thailand and Goa. (with fine white sand), this beach came a quite a surprise. Wouldn't call it a very clean beach either.

A perfect beach for sun lovers and swimming. This is very well protected by the bay of Agkali, so even when Meltemi blows furiously this beach is a smart choice.

clear clean water, a small but very friendly beach, reef shoes makes walking on the beach more comfortable, good sunbaking, catch a boat from the beach area, and enjoy a meal and drinks. All in this great little pocket of paradise.

Agali & Katergo are in my opinion the two best beaches in Folegandros. The only con was that it is very narrow and gets overcrowded easily. Great clear waters.

Agali is only 1 of 4 beaches available here. Choose the right one for you!
1. Agali sandy beach is the one that the road leads too from the main town and also the bus terminus.
It is not the biggest Beach though. This is good for families with small children that want to be in close proximity to food and water. You must wear a swimsuit on this beach.

2. Galifos. Nude beach
Small stony cove. Ideal on northern northeastern wind.

Do Respect the nudist character of this beach Come if you don't like the consumerism and mega beaches of athens. Want to meet like minded people that sadly are a minority in Greece. Even if you fear getting your swimsuit off you are welcome. It's remarkable how civilised this beach and what a positive vibe a it has, but refrain from taking photos including other people without their consent. I never seen anything bad happen but just saying, you know civilized behaviour makes everyone a winner. Don't Bring your yachts here, at all please, it is illegal to moor anywhere near the entrance of the beach and dangerous as there is a boat going to agios nikolaos very close by and there have been crashed yachts. There are a lot of rocks near the surface which means that you may well cause damage to your vessel and the environment. Go to firá beach which has space or stay in agali where there is less gusty winds. Dont bring dogs especially without a leash, it might be your darling but technically a beach is a park and the law stipulates that dogs need to muzzled and tied. Anyway try firá beach for dogs as there is much more space so there you will bother nobody. Don't Come to a nudist beach and remain clothed with huge umbrellas the wind will take it away, and screaming kids splashing other people, radio or music, and want to turn it into Disneyland. People come here for a quiet return to nature. It's rocky and you will not enjoy it and you will annoy others. Go to vardia beach which is perfect for traditional families that don't like nude People. A stunning beach near tavernas. Summary: Very relaxing atmosphere; it's a nudist community of free spirited people who want to return to simple nude living in this little paradise. There is a tremendous respect to nature, vegetarianism, yoga, and generally people who adhere to such views… we spoke to many people here and they were all lovely and open. People here try to keep their possessions on the beach to a minimum, some water, sun lotion, a towel, and no swimsuit :) we felt very comfortable to go nude. Usually some self conscious people waited for someone else to go nude before they also stripped off. The only bad thing was that the path above was sometimes used by the people who go to Agios Nicolas. So a bit of a social one ;)

3. Fira beach, on the left of agali beach take the path at hotel kymanemi. It is a nude beach and it is ideal for mooring yachts and for dogs umbrellas etc. If you need space and want to engage in water sports this is the best bet.
Best wind is north, northeast.
The path is challenging.

4. Agios nicolaos. This one is a mixed bag. As you look at the sea standing on the beach the extreme right is nudist. But it attracts a lot of families. It is sandy and although eventually accessible via the long path that leads to galifos as the first nude beach, most people take the little boat from agali to Nicolaos.
It's perhaps a good idea to have your lunch before you go there because the tavern there is overpriced. Try the blue taverna psaromilligas in agali that is not by the sand but immediately above it. Look up the departure times on the right hand cement departure point in agali beach. It's about 4 EUR for a return ticket.
Agios nicolaos is mostly sandy and best on a north northwestern wind.

Avoid agali on a southern or western wind. You can look up the wind direction on your favourite weather app.
Go to vardia beach on a southern wind day.

Agkali beach is one of the better beaches on Folegandros that’s easily accessible by car and without the rocky trek at the end! There is ample parking 5 minute walk from the beach. It’s served by a local bus from Hora several times each day - check the blackboard for bus times as they change; in June now it’s 11:45, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:00. There are a couple of good tavernas and the swimming is very easy. Bring a sun umbrella! From the beach you can take a rocky path to Galifos beach in 10 minutes (small and good for naturists) or walk on another 10 minutes to Agali Nikolaos which is a lovely beach with a taverna. The path is quite steep and rocky and in places the path is very close to the edge but it’s manageable. Alternatively take a boat from Agali bay to both Agali Nikolaos and Livadaki (12, 15:00 and 17:00). Beware whilst Livadaki is pretty it is very remote and there are no amenities! The boat drops you off at the waters edge so wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Very quite in June.

We walked to the beach from our hotel, The Mar Inn, quite a hard trek, but great views! Just disappointed on our arrival !! It's tiny, a bit scruffy and nothing to offer, no beds etc and its' position at the end of the car park unattractive. There are a handful of places to get a drink and food around it, which is a bonus above other Folegandros beaches and offers a bus to get back to Chora, which is appreciated ! But unless you take a water taxi, from our impression Folegandros is not the island for idyllic photo book beaches.
