Forested trail, I enjoyed the Bamboo part of the trail near the campsite. Great view of the summit and a challenging wall climbing experience way up the famous monolith.

For starter this was a DIY for me and my friend. So it started in the coastal road of Manila waiting for the Ternate bound bus. Fare 80 Php and about 2 hours. Get off in the bus terminal and hop on a trike to DENR (fare 225 Php for the whole trike which was about 30 + minutes). From... More

The Pico de Loro hike is an often selected option for city folk looking to get away from the smog and traffic. One can summit the peak in about 2 hours if they maintain a diligent pace up the continuously upward climb. About a two-hour drive from Manila, Mt. Palay-Palay is popular among birding circles because of the abundance of birds that you can see. During early mornings, you can catch the Luzon Hornbill, Brahminy Kite, Coppersmith Barbet, two kinds of flower peckers (Red-Keeled and Pygmy), tree swift and the Philippine Falconet, a Philippine endemic, on the trees along the road. After living in the area of Bacoor for 3 months and finding nowhere nice to visit, we finally stumbled upon Mount Palay, It was a diffficult climb but so worth it, the views were spectacular and the walk itself, although hard was fun! defo worh a visit if you get the chance.
