We stopped by Jungle Mania when exiting the park to have a look at the tours available for the following day. The owner is very helpful, friendly and able to answer any questions you have regarding the area, best times to do certain walks and anything else you can think of. He organised a 1 day jungle and cave trek at Chieow Laan Lake. We were picked up at our hotel (nearby) and delivered to the lake via minibus where we took a long tail boat to the floating huts on the lake. This trip took us through breathtaking limestone cliffs jutting out of the lake, where the driver slowed the boat at times for photos. Once we reached the huts we could swim and have refreshments before taking the boat a short way up the river to trek to the cave. The trek is easy and stunning through the bamboo jungle, but don't be fooled, the cave visit is a little more difficult and should probably be promoted as caving. We were in the cave for around 50mins, scrambling over rocks and at times neck deep in water. It was amazing and I loved every second. The guide we had was excellent. Keep in mind shoes are essential and they will get soaked, and a torch is also essential (something we were not told, but luckily another couple lent us theirs, or we would not have been able to go on the trek and into the cave). Following the hike you can swim briefly again and enjoy some fruit before heading back to your hotel. I can not stress enough to remember sneakers and a torch or you can not go on the trek and cave visit and you will have an amazing experience.

My family and I spent a good half a day with Kui who runs the various attractions. Elephant trekking in the morning and tubing on the river through the Khao Sok park after that. He did not take us trekking but we booked it through him and he took us there and waited for us for an hour or so for 700bht each. He then took us to the waterfall and to the monkey temple on the way back to the park. We then did the tubing on the river for 350bht each which was great fun and really safe and much better than being taken on a canoe. Kui has lived in the area all of his life and is incredibly knowable about the surroundings and you can tell he loves what he does and where he lives, a very nice gentleman. His English is first class and I would have no reservations in recommending the Khao Sok Jungle Mania. I would guess that he would be an excellent trekking guide as well. Top bloke.

We stumbled on Jungle Mania when exiting the park after a short hike. Mr. Surackai Serbaran, who we came to call Kui, offered us some coconut ice cream. We said no thanks, but came back the next day and booked a tour through him. Everything was well planned and executed. We asked for help to the airport later and the air conditioned bus was "bang on" schedule as promised. Kui is very knowledgeable about the area. Sit and talk to him if you have time. He knows everybody in town, their history, relatives etc. He was a guide in the Khao Sok for many years and knows the animals and their habits as well. Even if you don't stop in for a cold beer or ice cream, you owe it to yourself to talk with Kui.
