Off the beaten path

We arrived at the cave site midday after traversing Erawan Falls, a bit unprepared and under-researched. As many others have mentioned, keep your Erawan tickets for free same-day admission here. The first surprise was the hike to the cave, which was 600m of steep uphill stairs. We got to the cave site and found no one there (second surprise!). There is only one park ranger/guide at the site, so if he is taking another group through the cave, you have to wait. We called back to our hotel to confirm this, and waited about 15 minutes for the guide and group to re-emerge. Once inside, we were rewarded with a very unique cave experience for SE Asia. The only light to view the formations was from the guide's flashlight, which gave us a much different experience than caves that are continuously lit. I suppose you could bring additional flashlights, but we liked the effect of the guide directing our sight (I tried my phone flashlight for a minute or so, not enough power to make a difference). Our guide (and his helpful dog) took us through for about 20 minutes, and also showed us the bats and crickets that inhabit the cave. The cave was not too difficult to traverse: anyone who made it up the climb is plenty fit to wiggle through the sloped entrance/exit. Makes a great complement to Erawan, particularly if you are already out for the day from Kanchanaburi.

Exhausting but worth it

After a 600m climb in the heat of summer and squeeze through the small entrance the cave opens up into 6 chambers, as mentioned in other comments the guides only speak Thai but as my family are Thai this wasn't much of an issue for us. Keep your Erawan tickets so you dont have to pay again.

Phra tat caves

Incidentally if you have visited erawan falls the same day please retain tickets as the same are valid for phra tat caves as well .

I had visited and was about to turn back on knowing the price , when the lady on the counter asked me if I am coming from erawan.

Hence saved money.

Worth the visit!

head towards Si Nakharin National Park and climb through ancient caves.

Neramit Cave is worth exploring, It is a large cave with many rooms with amazing strangely-formed stalagmites and stalactites.
Neramit cave is a limestone cave which looks like a dome.

There is another three large caves; Tham Nam Mut, Tham Phra Prang and Tham Phra Kho, are situated in the same area.

A hidden world

This cave took a lot of energy to hike up to but it was worth it!
After a tight squeeze into the entrance (breathe in!) it opens up into a magical world of stalagmites and stalactites.
The guide didn't really speak much english but still gave us a good tour.
we took headtorches but he had a lamp.
The entry fee includes the whole national park so go to the falls too or elsewhere.

Great cave to visit but the guide should be fired

This is a nice cave to vist and we are the only tourists. Quite a clime up the hill to the entrance. As we are the first visitores of the day (24 july 2017) the guide is running before us to the entrance. He has a lamp but is too lazy to tell anything about the cave. het is really running throught it. Our guide makes a remark about it in Thai but he is in a bad mood and runs ahead and not interested at all in us. He is really spoiling our visit. The cave is worth while visiting!

Best cave in the region

If you are a person who likes caves then this cave is probably the best in this area and is well worth the effort of making the long drive up from Kanchanaburi or across from the other more well-known attractions along Hwy # 323. Having been to numerous other cave sites all over Thailand I would say this cave is definitely near the top of the to do list. Although not an overly long penetration it’s sheer internal volume is remarkably impressive. The cave excursion has been very well set-up for visitation by the park authorities and although there is a fairly demanding hike of 600 meters up to the entrance, the cement stairway is solid and not difficult to ascend. NOTE: the visitation fee for foreigners is 300 THB and is paid at the check-point near the car park before ascending. Once at the cave entrance you’ll be greeted by a local guide who unfortunately speaks no English. There is currently no lighting within the cave so if you don’t have your own torches, you’ll be escorted by the guide with a kerosene lamp. The lamps actually emit a good deal of light and create a nice orange glow within the cave. There is a tight squeeze to negotiate to enter the cave but once through it soon opens up to a massive chamber inside with the highest section being approx. 30 meters above the cave floor. There is a very well-constructed cement track, with steel handrails, which does a circuit through the cave. The furthest section of the cave is approx. 200 meters from the entrance with the track going right to far end before circling back to the exit. The cave has some very impressive formations at both ends where the cave roof is lower but the central area is a massive black void. Very well worth the effort of going there.

Great cave!!!!

I cant say i ever get excited about caves.....but this one ticks the boxes.
Quite a walk up but well worth it.if you are very large and regularly eat all the pies then you might not make it through the narrow entrance.
Once inside its great..safe walkways good size and many different fomations.
Tip...take your own torch else you rely on the guide and wear he points his
Enjoy a cold drink in the bonkers cafe at the bottom...crazy garden !

Its a nice place to relax with the friends and family, I like to visit this place again. I commend this place to the people who are visiting Thailand.

More lights please

The cave is not cheap 300 baht for non Thai 100 for Thai, the walk to the entrance is 600m they forgot to say straight up ! Very taxing in the midday heat 33' & high humidity steps most of the way, a guide shows you round carting a kerosene lamp which isn't adequate for the task in hand, some amazing formation and a massive cavern after squeezing through a narrow passage. Take a good torch you will enjoy it a lot more (phone torch not adequate ) overall enjoyed it but could have been better with a bit more effort
