We joined this tour in the hopes that we would see a sea turtle laying her eggs on the beach. This is a night tour as the mothers will not lay eggs in daylight. Devon was our tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the leatherback sea turtles. We saw two turtles that night and he explained thoroughly what... More

It was such an adventure. This adventure included walking through the night looking for turtles, bracing the strong and cold winds. It also included seeing those amazing turtles and watching the turtles hatch their eggs. Also carry baby turtles into the beach. The adventure further included bonding together to shelter from the rain in the beach next to the leatherback... More

I volunteered with Nature Seekers for 2 weeks through Earthwatch Institute. The commitment and dedication of the people in this organization are beyond compare. The endangered Leatherback turtles have benefitted from the decades of conservation efforts of these wonderful people. I made lifetime friends & the experience changed my life. I fell in love with Trinidad and the beautiful people... More

Its amazing to see the turtles continue their existence like that, and how they do it! The tour guide however made it even more intersting with information which made you appreciate their annual ritual even more. Well done!

The first opportunity I had to see these massive creatures pull themselves to shore to find a nesting place was astonishing. I visited the Matura nesting site at least four times and always find that it is interesting. The few times I went there the visiting crowd was large but the staff was able to manage quite well. If you... More

This is a once in a lifetime experience. There are very few times when you can experience the primal beauty of a world much older than us humans. The tours are hosted my incredibly knowledgable guides and the experience of watching turtles come ashore, nest and return to the sea is beautiful beyond compare.

This ecosite offers an up close and personal look at the world's largest sea turtle, 3rd largest reptile! The guides take good care of explaining and maintaining the egg laying process of this giants allow you to get close and at that same time respecting the creature's space. About 20% of the this turtle's population, nest in Trinidad, during peak... More

The start of the turtle season but we weren't disappointed. Our lovely guide Francis has worked there for 25 years and is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the turtles. We walked for about 10 minutes along the beach before reaching our turtle who was digging a hole to lay her eggs in. The whole process took about 45 minutes and... More

I had a wonderful experience with Nature Seekers on a hike to the Mermaid Pool in Matura, Trinidad. Their guide Francis was knowledgeable and really fantastic. I highly recommend using Nature Seekers for nature tours. I have also been to the Matura Beach with Nature Seekers to see the leatherback turtles. It was a wonderful experience!

We came at the end of the season so there were few turtles. It is a long and lonely drive in but safe. The visitor centre is nice and the guides are great. We got to hold the hatchlings. The beach is very long so if a turtle is spotted to the end it is a long walk. They did... More
