Around 25 years ago, I lived near Labante for around 5 years. I was very happy to discover that the place is unaltered, the only major difference being the travertine trampoline and curtain that have grown incredibly quickly. The small passage once opened to the public, where you could sneak into the small cave at the price of some drops on your back, is now unaccessible, but the place and the surrounding network of trails id decidedly worth the visit: don't miss it!…

Although this place is quite small, it’s well worth the visit. It’s beautiful, you can climb in to the grotto, it’s peaceful and you have numerous places to eat a picnic around the site. The site history was only in Italian, which isn’t my first language (!) it would have been nice to get the full context in English too, but my bad for not speaking Italian! It’s very pretty and I enjoyed the 60 minute visit. It looked like there was a walk to be enjoyed too, but with a wheelchair in tow we didn’t risk the unknown...…

It is a beautiful place to visit. It could also be considered as a spot for a romantic out as well. Definitely a picnic spot for a family. Peaceful and mesmerising atmosphere.

If you love geology and want to see caves growing up in front you: go there! In fact, here the water makes caves. But in the other way around: not by eroding but by building through precipitation of calcium carbonate. It's a rare phenomenon that deserves your attention. You can also take relief from the fresh air in the woods and some good traditional food nearby, just few miles up on the hills. Half way between Florence and Bologna.…
