A must see. Evan the owner of the incredible collection is very informative and willing to share his knowledge if you ask. Alta was the largest German naval base outside of Germany during the war with 20,000 troops ashore and over 2,000 on the Tirpitz....More

I cannot in fairness call it an excellent museum, but it is very interesting and better than average in both exhibits and authentic artifacts. If you are driving to Alta and are not rushed for time, it is worth a brief stopover especially if you...More

Well worth a visit, the museum is small but with plenty of exhibits and a very interesting film. It could be improved by having some information about other related places to visit in the area.

Nice short museum experience. 6 rooms of second world war stuff. Video presentation of destroying Tirpiz. When you are there, definitely worth visiting. 30 / 60 min stop.

Hi Stephen, the museum is only open in summer, however they do open specially if you contact them. I reckon it’ll have to be a taxi but it’s only 10 minutes from Alta
