It was an amazing experience, we had at least 13 platypus sightings and one was really close! Seeing these special animals in their natural habitat and not just in a zoo is quite special. Bruce has a lot of knowledge about these outstandingly special animals. He tries not to speak to much while paddling across the lake because of the... More

It is important that I preface this with the following: Lake Elizabeth is incredibly beautiful and I highly recommend visiting it. it is accessible for free. It is a 1km walk from the carpark. I have been lucky enough to travel and experience a wide variety of tourism providers over the years and whilst there has been a few hits... More

Late answer from them to the booking, when booking confirmed form my side (why does it have to be double confirmed?) at the time we should have left for the tour, got a short message that his colleague just filled the number. No apologies or whatsoever. We came to Apollo Bay because of this tour.

My partner, parents and sister were all lucky enough to be a part of Bruce's excellent platypus experience this morning. Wandering through the beautiful forest to arrive at the mist covered lake was an excellent start to what was a wonderful morning. Knowing no sighting was guaranteed, we were thrilled to have over 20 glimpses of the creatures thanks to... More

Our guide, who never told us her name, had no knowledge of the ecology of the area and literally walked us to the canoe and pushed it around. We would have had a nicer trip if we had walked to lake Elizabeth alone and we would have saved $170! We were expecting Bruce and were never told it would be... More

I had booked it through their website 3 weeks before I was due to arrive and the owner confirmed. I had been asking him by email how to pay and then just 4 days before I was due to arrive, he informs me that our spaces had been taken. The website says 'book in advance to avoid disappointment'- it seems... More

I came here with my 11 year old son, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I hadn't read any reviews so was unaware of the "non tour" aspect of the trip, but we both found our guides quiet nature charming - and a role model for the way we should behave on the lake when watching for platypus. The 1km... More

I got taken here by my boyfriend after he took his mum whilst she was visiting Australia, he loved it so much! It definitely lived up to his excitement about it. It was a lovely walk down to Lake Elizabeth then you get into a couple of small canoe/boats and gently glide along the water to try to spot some... More

The ‘on the water’ portion of this tour was all one could ask for - quiet, peaceful, scenic, isolated, with the chance to see Platypus in the wild. However, we found the rest disappointing, with little or no regard for the comfort, safety, convenience, or enjoyment of the guests who pay a substantial amount to join the tour. Bruce's customer... Awesome experience, far exceeded my expectations. Bruce is extremely knowledgeable (he's a university-trained naturalist) and loves what he does. We saw several platypus in at least 12 sightings. One surfaced within a meter of our canoe. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a thrill ride. It is a beautiful, meditative experience in a stunning environment where you get... More
