Interesting pretty area with good views over the lake. Sadly the Cavalry museum is closed in 2018 for renovation so we were unable to visit there but the Karelia and Art museums were both open. As the summer season does not start until June it...More

The city is beautiful even in snow. At least it takes a day to walk around. In this season, the street is slippery because of snow & ice.

The museum has a good representation of the historical past. It is not large, however it contains good detail and has a few detailed models of respective town areas.

The Fortress is a historical place with a beautiful lanskape and a good view of harbour. A combination of nature and history. A place for enjoyable walks and relaxation.

This is an excellent place to come spend some time; walk around, have some coffee and basically just admire the view! Also many museums and history if you are interested. This is a must visit place in Lappeenranta!

We walked up the slope (past fairly standard C18th military earthworks) into the old fortress. It consists of a single cobbled road about 400-500m long with 30 or so old buildings dotted along with a variety of uses- some empty, some private, a cafe, museums,...More

Nice relaxing area for a evening or morning walk. But there are also several restaurants, cafes, museums and art exhibitions open during the day time. Worth a visit.

The little heart of Lappeenranta :) Couple of lovely cafes, some interesting shops, and great views (though it can be windy!) Always great for a picnic on a sunny day.
