The Palace of the Golfines de Abajo in Caceres houses an interesting display of artistic patrimony from the Foundation Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno. This house museum offers the possibility to know the evolution of nobility through the lineage of the Golfin family, who lived in this land since the 15th century. It is an ambiance museum, which recreates a house of the Caceres nobility and, by walking through, the visitor can learn more about diverse aspects of the daily life of its owners: their taste, fashion, beliefs and hobbies through the rich artistic assets and family documents collected across centuries, with works from the 14th to the 20th century.

The palace can only be visited in a tour , leaving on the hour. The rate is reasonable but on our visit all the tours were only in Spanish which is disappointing. The guide could easily sum up her story in a few English sentences to my mind. The displays too were only in Spanish. Alas! The palace was beautifully... More

The visit is by guided tour and was advertised as lasting about an hour. On our tour there were 9 people, 4 from UK and 2 from Belgium who spoke English but not Spainish. There were 4 Spainish people in the group. The guide spoke perfect English but insisted on describing all rooms in Spainish when he could easily have... More

Stumbled across this museum. Once a private home but now turned into a museum. Shows a bit of how rich people lived in the past. The visit comes with a guided tour in spanish which basically points out everything in the house. My view: If you have time on your hands pay this place a visit, but if pushed for... More

There are few homes open to the public in Caceres because they are still being occupied today. The palacio which was owned for more than a century by a wealthy Spanish family has been restored to its grandeur thanks to a foundation set up at the death of the last family member. As they owned numerous properties all over Spain... More

We were visiting Cáceres with our two kids aged 10 and 11. Although the guides were Spanish they did an extra effort for our kids to understand the explanations. The palace was very nice with everything well cared. If you have time for one hour visit, don't miss it.

This should be the biggest palace in the city of Caceres because it is built in the space of about twenty houses. And following the tourist info it has one of the most beautiful façade of the city of Caceres. You find this palace on the “Plaza de los Golfines” Entrance fee is 2 € pro person.
