Very efficient. Very inexpensive. Very clean. Safest city I've have ever been to. Trains run every 5-10 minutes. Very easy to figure out, buy tickets and navigate.

Found the metro system excellent in Bilbao. Not expensive (1.50 Euros) and you can go through Bilbao top to bottom. Trains are clean and relatively quiet and the ride is smooth. They come frequently enough. It is what you hope public transit can be.

The metro is very modern and stretches well outside the city, we stayed out near Plentzia and could take the metro from there to the city centre. Extremely cheap, clean and very safe. Get a bikzia card which you can top up and use for all the family.

The Metro is great and cheap and it goes to the seaside at Plentzia, maybe the Northern line could be extended? We did find it quite hot travelling the other day, but nothing like the Underground.

This is how a metro system should be. It is quick and efficient with comfortable and good air- qualty carriages. It is well worth buying a rechargeable Barik card (like the UK Oyster card) if making several journeys, as the fares are much lower than individual tickets. A day pass is also available. Do not forget to sacn the card... More

Really efficient, cheap service which is often accessed by the now-famous, Norman Foster plastic 'snail' entrances. You can buy the equivalent of an 'oyster' card which can be used on the metro, trams, funicular or hanging bridge. You can access the city and, if you want, it will take you right along both west and east bank of the river... More

We like small metro systems. This one is fast, cheap, clean and safe. The centre of Bilbao isn't very large and can easliy be walked across, but when your legs get tired, hit the metro. Day Pass under €5

We were in Bilbao for a few days and the weather was perfect... we decided it would be nice to venture to the beach. Metro made it so easy 3.50 Euro return ticket for the day to travel from city centre Abando to Sopelana. It's less than a mile from the station to the waters edge, and the tourist information...
