This is a lovely spot but it is very small so it gets overrun with tourists very easily best suggestion is to go there early and avoid the crowds. We stayed there overnight and managed to see a beautiful sunset after the crowds had gone.

We were really glad we visited Castello Monteriggioni. After visiting many other hill top towns in the region we were feeling like they were all just the same. This place is just lovely, even on a rainy day. Just watch your footing.

This was one of our stops on our transfer from Siena to Florence with a driver/guide. He gave us some background and dropped us off for a short visit - we did not have to deal with parking. We enjoyed the brief walk up near...More

Great little town with amazingly well preserved barricades. It is not big so don't count on spending an entire day here. Be advised that they charge you 2.50 euros for a walk on the walls.

This is worth a quick visit to see the impressive walls and personally visit an important Tuscan fort in the conflicts between the Florentines and Sienese. Once inside there is not much to do except visit a few shops, view the walls, and have lunch.

Beautiful castle, exactly what you imagine thinking of castle walls, knights, Middle Ages. Completely preserved almost frozen in time. Great views of Chianti region. Unfortunately for our visit combination of terrible rain and road blocks by big cycling event created some difficulties. Still could appreciate...More

We had decided to visit Monteriggioni during our drive in the Tuscany country. Yes, the city and the fortress is beautiful, as well as the surroundings is very picturesque, but that is about all. It is very hard to find yourself to stay for very...More
