Situated on elevated grounds in a housing estate a short walk from town centre. Gives certain perspectives on Russian influence in this area and remembrance of many who lost their lives; lest we forget the price for peace.

Nice memorial in honor of the Red Army liberating Kirkenes from the Nazis by the end of WWII. The history of the city is in fact still today very closely linked to Russia, as there are only 7 kilometers distance to the Russian border.

There’s not much else to see in Kirkenes, and this monument is of great historical significance, so worth the walk through the town to see it.

Obviously you have to make the hike up the hill as this is the only statue in town, and is of great historical significance. But once you've seen it, you can tick it off!
