Kuttanadu is a region covering the Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam Districts, well known for its vast paddy fields and geographical peculiarities. The region has the lowest altitude in India, and is one of the few places in the world where farming is carried around 4 to 10 feet (1.2 to 3.0 m) below sea level. Kuttanadu is historically important in... More

We spent some some here on a big houseboat and it is very relaxing to see the fields, the lake itself and a few birds. We also went on a row boat into the interiors and it was an experience. Between out two visits weeds and the smell of diesel have increased many folds. But it is still good to... More

A boat trip in Kuttanad is a worth visiting trip for anyone! You can see the villages surrounded by water. The paddy fields, the lake and the tranquility is amazing. It's better to extend the tour till sunset. That's something to be experienced in silence. However these days almost the whole lake has houseboats floating around. But still if you... More

You cant have a backwater holiday without a houseboat ride. We choose a day trip from 11 to 5 pm. Overnight houseboat stays during season will burn pockets

Punnamada lake is beautiful. A boat ride on its calm waters is almost spiritual. My advice is to take a canoe or a medium size houseboat for 2-3 hours to explore this lake and the beautiful backwaters around it and to get a peek at the quaint village life that revolves around it. This body of water can be glimpsed... More

We were a group of about 60 odd people including children. The cruise on a houseboat was the highlight of the kerala trip. We reached around 10 am, but were allowed on the houseboat around 11 (Knowing river/sea traffic, they never start before or after time). It was worth the wait. As we began our cruise, we were served tea... More

It was a nice experience going in a Canoe, looking around the village life, where everybody depends on the lake for sustenance, although it does not look clean, they seem to survive.. It was nice waiving at the people living by the lake, they seemed friendly & happy. The paddy fields looks so very fresh, green & lush, it looked... More
