We stopped into the town for lunch and walked up to the castle. It had nice views of the city and we probably stayed for about a hour. It was a very hot day and we walked from the town square so it was a...More

I visited on a Sunday, not many other visitors, cafe shut drinks dispenser very fussy about coins , it would accept. Planted up with bulbs and flowering plants, cloisters at the top a shady place to sit.

There isn't much to see in here for me. The castle itself is well intact and the view from the top is amazing but that's just about it. There isn't any kind of activity or even guided tours so it is just a castle. From...More

Very beautiful from outside, inside we can see the views to the city of Leiria and visit the museum, but at the end we have a sensation that ẃe could discover more about this monument. There are places we couldn't visit for sure.

From the Castle you can get a great perspective of Leiria evolution and take good photos. A part of the castle is very well preserved still with the roof (which is not so common in Portuguese castles) while other parts are more ruined which also...More

Well worth visiting if in Leiria. A lot of the castle is in-tact and the abbey and bottom half of the castle don't have a roof so when you go right to the top you can see down into all the other parts. There is...More

Nice views from the top over the whole city. As with most castles in Portugal, there isn't any tour or explanations of the history - you're just left to explore on your own. If you like this and don't mind a bit of climbing, this...More
