A great holiday place close to home. Great view, so serene and relaxing just to look out into the lake. Journey from Medan was fairly interesting but nothing to beat the eventual view of Lake Toba.

Actually the visit to Lake Toba itself we'd rate 5 stars cos it's beautiful. The company in subject is what we rate 2 stars. We start with the good points - drivers are polite - when I pointed out we didn't get a hotel we're...More

Nothing special here. Some decent views but only at sunset or sunrise. Can only swim in designated areas because of the weeds in the lake. Some good fruits and vegetables can be purchased along the roads.

This morning, we cruise Lake Toba to visit the Ambarita Village and Tomok Village in the Samosir Island. This is really cool lake, beautiful scenery and so calm.

I am guessing that you're going straight to Tuk Tuk from the airport? if you are staying in Medan your accommodation will probably arrange onward travel for you. The transport is not expensive so avoid being overcharged... More
I have booked 3N stay at Samosir and another final night in Medan. I arrive early in the morning around 8 am at KNO airport on Day 1. I am thinking of heading straight out to Brastagi from airport before heading to Samosir in the afternoon before the last ferry leaves fr Parapat. In order to save time waiting around for buses, I am thinking of hiring a private car direcrly from airport to take the three of us to BRastagi. we will enjoy the cool breeze, fruits and flowers there before heading out to see waterfall and head on from there to Parapat enroute to tuk Tuk. I would like some advice whether it is practical to pull it altogether in one day? Where would I arrange for a private hired car with driver that will take us the day from airport-brastagi-Parapat? How much would we be looking at for the hired car? for the return trip from Parapat to Medan City, what are the options of travel.
