Spectacular one day, even more spectacular all the other days! The largest salt water lake In The Southern Hemisphere is ideal for swimming, sailing, general leisure craft, fishing & just admiring its beauty. Worth a visit as it won't disappoint!

The largest salt water lake in the Southern Hemisphere. Fantastic Family holidays. Sailing and all water sports.Bush walking and an excellent cycle path. Lots of eateries and picnic areas.

My definition of lake is a body of water surrounded by land Lake Macquarie is not surrounded by land so how can this be a lake it is open to the ocean so it's more like a estuary not a lake

There are so many places to stop and just look at the view along the shoreline here, that it could take you a week to see everything. Need a car.
