A moderate sized church built around two very small rooms that show the way St. Francis and his early followers lived while he beginning his time as a servant of God. It is here that he wrote things that stated the importance of simplicity, poverty, and prayer. I got more feeling of his life here than in the ornate Porziuncola... More

Through this time he would come down to the valley through a... More

If you want too see all the important Places in san Fransescos life, this is also important. Then churth is built over the smaall cabin where Fransesco and his Companions spent imprtant days and years in the beginning.

Quiet, prayerful place. This was a hut where St. Francis lived with his first followers, with a larger building now built around it. Nice to get away from the crowds and pray here. A lovely statue of St. Francis with the birds outside, and a great view of Assisi from this valley below the town.

I love the location of this church and to my surprise there was an original hut built by St. Francis and his brothers inside. So much history. This is the place where tourists mostly missed when they visit Assisi.
