We really enjoyed the town of Chapala, especially the “Malecon” as it was so nice to look across Lake Chapala, and the surrounding scenery. The weather was perfect and the people were nice. We liked going through the nearby vender area as they sell all...More

the Chapala malacon is a whole lot bigger and busier than the one in ajijic, surrounded by a variety of cheap places to buy shoes and clothes, and a ton of resturants from cheap eats to fancier and more expensive places its got it all...More

Pretty long boardwalk along Lake Chapala in the town of Chapala. Plenty of interesting things to see and do - from the acrobatic local pole team to cafes and bars. More of a local Mexican attraction than the expats of Ajijic.

Nice lakefront malecon with snacks and usually live music from various local musicians. It could use some updating and be a bit cleaner but overall it's a nice place to sit and look at the lake or take a walk down the malecon. Sundays are...More

Be sure to take the inexpensive boat rides, but watch it going down the steep stairs to the boat. The boatman are very knowledgeable of the area. There are several restaurants and markets here. Parking may be a challenge because this area is very popular...More

The Ajijic malecón ("boardwalk") is just 4 miles west of Chapala on Lake Chapala. It is popular with foreign visitors. Ajijic is more like a "boutique town" to me. The Chapala malencón is much larger than the one in Ajijic and, in my view, much...More

I've been here a few times. Always to discover a different restaurant or some Shop. The park, the boardwalk, well worth the trip! Very unique!

Hotel San Francisco is located on the Malecon, right across the street from Lake. It is well located to restaurants, shops, church and taxi stand.
