The Parque Nacional Arrecife Puerto Morelos is the government administered reef park where visitors go scuba diving and or snorkeling on excursions and day trips Its too far out to swim - although some regular visitors try kayaaking out - that is if they don't...More

We went to two reefs on a catamaran with my husband, son and his girlfriend. On the second reef, my son pulled out a diamond ring and proposed to his girlfriend on the reef with a ton of fish swimming around. Peppe who was our...More

There are lots of snorkeling options on the Mayan coast. However Puerto Morelos is pretty, diverse, and very easy. Just arrive in the town center and finding a guide and boat is straightforward. Reef is right in front of the town so a short boat...More

This is by far not the best snorkling venue to be found. The operators all enforce the wearing of a PFD when one is in the water, hence snorkling turns into floating. So, if your definition of snorkling is to actually make it below the...More

My wife has wanted to learn to scuba for years and we decided that this area would be a great place to learn. We had 4-dives off the coast of Puerto Morelos and all of them were great. There were numerous fish and small Barracuda,...More

As marine biologists, we loved snorkelling in the national park You have to go a long way around the world to find seagrass as good as this (note: seagrass is an underwater flowering plant rather than algae/seaweed). The seagrass was host to lobster, starfish, a...More

I went snorkeling here and we had a great time. The reef is very healthy and we saw a lot of animal life & beautiful coral (our favorite was the sting ray and schools of fish). This is the second largest reef system in the...More

Went there on a 4-hour snorkeling tour with a company who picked us up from our Cancun hotel. All snorkeling trips had been canceled for several days prior due to the weather being too windy so we were fortunate to be able to go that...More

Got to Puerto Morelos by Taxi. Easily found a boat to take our family of 5 snorkeling. Amazing coral reef. One in our group said it was better then the Great Barrier Reef.

Hi, Kimberley. What would you like to know about this attraction? Hi hope someone can give us some advice. My husband and I both love snorkelling and are keen to do a boat trip. Although our 11 and 13 year old are both strong and confident swimmers they just can't seem to get the hang of breathing through the snorkel, preferring to stick with goggles. Any info about the conditions; depth of water and how they are likely to manage would be welcome. also what is the snorkelling like just going in from the beach? Thanks

Hi Kim, I can't say it's always like this, but when we went last week the water was very calm because there was little wind. I am the opposite of your children - a weak swimmer but I rely on the snorkel to stay alive. My... More

We have snorkeled twice in P Morelos but still don't really understand who is running what. It's kind of confusing. The guys on the beach are looking to sell snorkel tours that are cheaper than the ones sold from the pier area. But even on the pier we had one guy tell us one price and then the guy in the office tell us another ($20 then $25) and what seemed like an argument between them ensued. All very confusing to us. We plan to take friends there tomorrow (March 21) can anyone help clarify what the deal is exactly?

It can be for a simple reason, "Legal" sometimes people sell snorkeling tours at cheaper prices because they do not pay extra fees, they can really provide a service of equal quality, but the point is, Marinas will charge an... More
